Karis Community provides residential services to 25 community members recovering from serious and persistent mental illness. Community members and former community members receive counseling services under Karis' Empowerment program. The goals of the Karis Community Empowerment Program are:- To help Community Members develop coping and independent living skills- To provide a positive environment for Community Members' personal growth,self-reliance, and self-improvement.- To help Community Members live a life that is enjoyable and fulfilling, at Karis and beyond.
The Karis Community Stepping Stone Cottage is a secondary therapeutic environment for Community Members who have completed the Empowerment Program but are not yet ready to transition to independent living. This property provides a peer supported and less restrictive environment for residents to continue working towards independence.
