THE CHILDREN FIRST PROGRAM HELPS CHILDREN SUCCEED IN SCHOOL BY PROVIDING COUNSELING SERVICES FOR AT-RISK CHILDREN AND FAMILIES AT LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. THE PROGRAM DIRECTLY ASSISTS CHILDREN WHO ARE EXPERIENCING SERIOUS EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS, SO THAT THEY CAN DEVELOP NEW SKILLS, IMPROVE PEER RELATIONSHIPS, FOCUS ON THEIR ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE, AND SUCCEED IN SCHOOL. IN 2019, CHILDREN FIRST PROVIDED 4,465 HOURS OF COUNSELING FOR 417 AT-RISK CHILDREN AND FAMILIES AT 20 PARTICIPATING ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.

MARIA DROSTE'S INTEGRATED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE PROGRAM INTEGRATES MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES AT PARTNER SITES THROUGHOUT THE DENVER METRO REGION, ENSURING THAT BARRIERS SUCH AS TRANSPORTATION, STIGMA, TIME, AND MONEY DO NOT PREVENT INDIVIDUALS IN NEED OF HEALTH CARE FROM RECEIVING IT. THE INTEGRATED CARE PROGRAM PROVIDES VITAL ACCESS TO SAFETY-NET HEALTH CARE IN METRO-DENVER, ASSISTING INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, PEOPLE WHO ARE UNDOCUMENTED, OLDER ADULTS, AND REFUGEES IN RECEIVING HIGH-QUALITY MENTAL HEALTH CARE WHO WOULD OTHERWISE GO WITHOUT.
