Montbello Organizing Committee is a community organization whose purpose and mission is to galvanize and cultivate Montbello stakeholders and resident leaders to proactively address the critical issues affecting their quality of life.
Montbello Freshlo Initiative -- The Montbello FreshLo Initiative is MOC's comprehensive community economic development program that is designed to create places in the community that promotes cultural heritage, artistic expression, animate public and private spaces, rejuvenate structures and streetscapes, improve local business viability and public safety, and bring diverse peoples together. Collectively, these places will improve access to healthy, affordable food for all residents, but especially within low-income communities, and build social cohesion and increase physical activity within a vibrant cultural context. Affordable housing will be included in this unique initiative.
This project is a component of MOC's FreshLo Initiative which is focused on building out a 6.5-mile walkable trail through Montbello's central residential area. The Loop links parks, schools, community gardens, and other features in the neighborhood with the intent of improving health outcomes by adding components of safe walking trails, art installations, and access to fresh grown food. Colorado Health Foundation has committed more than $1.2 mm to the planning and implementation of this loop. MOC works with 25 partners in facilitating this effort.
