To advance the power of people with all abilities through adaptive innovation and the joy of recreation and outdoor experiences.
The NSCD Recreational Programs provide lessons and equipment for adative alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, ski bike, multi and single day camping experiences, river rafting, canoe, kayak, stand-up paddle, fishing, therapeutic horseback riding, veterans specific programs, archery, airgun, obstacle course, rock climbing, ability clinics, and custom group activities to individuals with any type of disability aged 5 and older. Participants do not have to be Colorado residents. In 2020, the NSCD provided 30,000 hours of instruction and programming to more than 1300 athlete participants in recreational and adventure sports. Programming was limited from March 2020 through October 2020 due to COVID-19.
The NSCD Competition Center has training programs for racers with physical disabilities in alpine and cross-country skiing. The competition program is based on the same teaching principals used for able-bodied competitive ski racing organziations. The Competition Center trains athletes from beginning racers to elite level racers.
