To renew the Christian church through the personal and corporate spiritual formation of its members.
With a program lasting two years, the Renovare Institute for Christian Spiritual Formation (Renovare Institute) provides an in depth interaction with core organizational ideas. In FY 2019-20, the Chicago cohort began the second year of its program, but the 42 students were unable to complete the year due to COVID travel restrictions. The program is expected to complete in 2021. The Charlotte cohort began the two-year formal education program with 42 students, but its program was also delayed midstream due to COVID and is expected to complete year-one in 2021.
Conferences and retreats are planned and facilitated to encourage people to practice a meaningful spiritual life. In FY 2019-20, due to COVID restrictions and limited travel, 4 retreats and 3 conferences were held, reaching approximately 180 people.
Spiritual Formation education is a core of Renovare's ministry and has been an emphasis for FY 2019-2020. This general education occurs through various platforms: such as podcasts via the website (renovare.org), the online Renovare book club with over 1,800 participants, and various speaking engagements. In response to having limited number of in-person events, Renovare began monthly webinars, with the average webinar having 1,100 registrations. Renovare has also partnered with Food for the Hungry (FH) to provide online Spiritual Formation education for use by FH leaders and workers in various areas of the world.
