Promotes Idea of Employee Ownership
The Rocky Mountain Employee Ownership Center works to create a more just and sustainable economy through advancing employee ownership throughout the state of Colorado. Our main programs are 1) Outreach & Education for business owners, employees, business service providers, and the general public about the types, advantages, and technical aspects of employee ownership, and 2) Technical Assistance to businesses of all sizes and industries to guide them through the process of becoming employee owned. RMEOC's main accomplishments during 2020 include: o Expanded our Business Technical Advising program by hiring a full-time Technical Assistance Advisor and developing a new 6-part training series for businesses transitioning to employee ownership o Responded to requests from 50 businesses for information and guidance on becoming employee owned o Provided educational workshops on employee ownership to 93 business owners and service providers through virtual events and webinars o Engaged with 5 business clients, representing 166 employees, to provide direct technical assistance including business valuations, legal and accounting referrals, and tailored education and training for transitioning to employee ownership o Assisted one business to complete its conversion to worker owned cooperative in November 2020 (after a total of 15 months of technical assistance) o Continued collaboration with the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) and the Governor's Employee Ownership Commission to meet employee ownership needs of businesses across the state o Continued outreach and education on employee ownership to businesses in Denver's underserved neighborhoods
