Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Urban Farm (TUF) is a community farm and educational center, which provides the opportunity for urban residents to participate in agriculture by removing the barriers to entry such as land access, time, location and finances. TUF inspires excitement for learning through practical work experience and hands-on education while fostering respect, responsibility, curiosity, compassion and grit.
Through all educational programs offered in 2019, TUF served 6,000 youth and 1,200 adults; an additional 4,100 people visited the farm through general admission for self-guided tours. In total TUF served 11,300 people. Farm Field Trips: 2216 youth and 624 adults participated in 83 field trips. Of these participants, 828 were provided programming for free or reduced fee. Service Learning: 430 youth and young adults participated in hands on service learning programs in 2019. GOCO NEMC: As a member of the Great Outdoors Colorado, Northeast Metro Coalition TUF provided 841 youth with recurring service learning, on-site field trips, and/or off-site afterschool programming free of charge. Cultivating Change in Youth: Through a partnership with the Denver Juvenile Services Center, TUF provided intervention programming for 54 youth involved in the juvenile justice system. Equestrian Program: 117 youth participated in TUF horsemanship program, 24 of which were on scholarship. TUF Kids: 15 teens participated in TUF Kids, our year-round leadership and character development program. Livestock Clubs: TUF has one of the largest 4H programs on the Front Range, with 36 families currently participating. Summer Discovery: 369 children attended 30 week-long summer camps. 138 of the campers were individuals from low-income backgrounds and were provided need-based, full-scholarships.
