Organizations Filed Purposes:
To provide financial support to Durango School District 9-R for programs, materials, and technology needs that fall outside the capacity of the regular school district budget.
In 2019, Durango Education Foundation continued to concentrate on giving financial support to Durango School District 9-R (9-R) classrooms and to community organizations which serve 9-R students. Every school in the district received funding from DEF efforts. DEF funded grants to teachers and community organizations to support a range of academic programs, materials and technology needs throughout the school district. Grants funded such needs as: instructional technology devices, pilot program start-up costs, independent reading materials, mobile space and earth program, student travel and competition costs, and more. DEF grants affected the education of at least 80% of the students in the district. DEF created one (1) additional scholarship opportunity, administered 14 scholarships and academic awards, provided grants for performing and visual arts education, and funded smaller classroom projects that fall outside the regular school budget.
