ADVOCATES ASSISTED 146 VICTIMS WITH NONRESIDENTIAL SERVICES TO INCLUDE 84 HOURS OF PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION COUNSELING, ASSISTANCE WITH TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT PROTECTION ORDERS, ADVOCACY, SAFETY PLANNING, AND RESOURCES AND REFERRALS. A WOMAN'S PLACE OFFERED 175 DIFFERENT EDUCATION AND AWARENESS EVENTS TO WELD COUNTY.
A WOMAN'S PLACE PROVIDES FREE, CONFIDENTIAL, COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES TO VICTIMS/SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. IN 2019, A WOMAN'S PLACE ADVOCATES ASSISTED A TOTAL OF 394 SURVIVORS WITH SAFE SHELTER AND PROVIDED 5,855 NIGHTS OF STAY. ADVOCATES ANSWERED 819 CRISIS CALLS AND PROVIDED 115 CLIENTS WITH LEGAL ADVOCACY SERVICES. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, ADVOCATES ASSISTED VICTIMS WITH SAFETY AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY THROUGH 24-HOUR SERVICES AND PROGRAMS SUCH AS CRISIS LINE COVERAGE, EMERGENCY SHELTER, INDIVIDUALIZED GOAL PLANNING, PARENT AND CHILDREN PROGRAMS, AND SUPPORT GROUP.
IN 2019, ADVOCATES PROVIDED 140 YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES SUCH AS: SENSORY PLAY (A PROGRAM THAT PROMOTES COGNITIVE AND SOCIO-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE ENGAGEMENT OF THE SENSES); FAMILY ACTIVITIES (REGULARLY SCHEDULED EVENTS DESIGNED TO HELP YOUTH HEAL FROM TRAUMA THROUGH FAMILY BONDING); AND CHILDCARE SUPPORT (TO GIVE GUARDIANS THE TIME TO FOCUS SELF- SUFFICIENCY ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS SEEKING EMPLOYMENT OR SUSTAINABLE HOUSING). IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING SERVICES TO HELP EMPOWER VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, AWP ALSO WORKS TO ADDRESS THE ROOT CAUSES OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE BY PROVIDING COMMUNITY EDUCATION. IN 2019, AWP ADVOCATES GAVE 39 COMMUNITY EDUCATION PRESENTATIONS; 69 TRAININGS TO PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS; AND 41 COMMUNITY AWARENESS ACTIVITIES. IN ORDER TO DISRUPT THE CYCLE OF VIOLENCE IN FUTURE GENERATIONS, AWP MAKES A CONCERTED EFFORT TO EDUCATE YOUNG PEOPLE. IN 2019, AWP'S OUTREACH DIRECTOR GAVE 26 YOUTH-TARGETED PRESENTATIONS AT WELD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOLS. IN TERMS OF EDUCATING OUR CLIENTS, 90% OF RESPONDENTS TO AWP'S 5-DAY SURVEY REPORTED AN INCREASE IN SAFETY KNOWLEDGE AND 90% REPORTED AN INCREASED KNOWLEDGE OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES AS A RESULT OF SAFETY PLANNING WITH AWP ADVOCATES.
