The mission of The Colorado Golf Association, Inc.("Association")is to represent, promote and serve the best interests of golf in the State of Colorado.
Golf programs-The Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado (JGAC) was established in 2016 by the Colorado Section of the PGA and the Colorado Golf Association. The JGAC serves as a vehicle for collaboration on the arena of junior golf in the state of Colorado for parents, kids, coaches and PGA Professionals by streamlining the junior process, filling in the voids, further building the junior golf ranks, and creating new excitement with the four Major Championships (Colorado Junior Amateur Championship, Colorado PGA Junior Championship, Colorado Junior Match Play Championship and Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado Tour Championship). In 2020, there were 1,757 junior golf members and 4,281 individual tournament entries. In addition to being your one-stop-shop for competitive junior golf our Player Development Pathway embraces the core programs of each association including Golf in Schools, PGA Junior League, Drive Chip & Putt Championship, partnerships with in-state national qualifying events, instructional camps and clinics and much more. Additionally, we serve as your portal to college golf with a vast array of free counseling opportunities and assistance programs.The Solich Caddie & Leadership Academy, LLC (the Academy) was formed in 2012 for the purpose of educating and training teenagers on how to be a caddie and to use caddying and the game of golf as a platform to teach them how to succeed in life. In 2020, the Academy had 55 caddies in three golf course locations. The Academy is 100% owned by CGA.The Broadmoor Caddie & Leadership Academy mission is to develop and operate a world-class caddie program that provides outstanding customer service and an enhanced playing experience for members and resort guests at The Broadmoor. Through selective and targeted recruiting, attract the highest quality young men and women for a unique growth experience through caddying, leadership, and life skill development, while enabling them to pursue scholarship opportunities, such as the Evans Scholarship. In 2020, the Broadmoor Academy had 34 caddies in one golf course location.
Tournaments- CGA conducted state championships, USGA qualifiers, and assisted at numerous other tournaments and championships for golf entrants. CGA conducted 21 state amateur golf championships and 13 CGA qualifiers as well as 2 USGA qualifiers and the Colorado Open and Women's Colorado Open events at Green Valley Ranch.
Course ratings and handicaps-CGA performs course ratings and measurements and monitors member clubs' compliance with USGA handicap certification and licensing requirements. In 2020, CGA performed 23 ratings and measured 14 courses, COVID-19 guidelines for course rating were developed and used, conducted a course rating calibration seminar using ZOOM, 8 World Handicap System (WHS) Rules of Handicapping seminars were conducted, and 5 WHS "Ready for the Rules: Handicap Edition" videos were created and viewed by CGA members.
