Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Mission of the Colorado Rural Schools Alliance is to provide a structure through which rural school districts and community members can unite in their efforts to increase the opportunities available to Colorados rural students and communities. These activities benefit over 130,000 students and educators in the 147 rural school districts in Colorado.
Advocacy/Lobbying: Independent contractor hired as lobbyist. Secured additional funding and flexibility for rural schools. Promoted rural successes and challenges and expanded rural advocacy network.
Strategic design and development: Executive director salary increased to get closer to market for qualified leadership, scope of member services expanded to provide additional benefits consistent with member needs, worked with strategist to expand associate membership program and strategic partnerships, improved and increased newsletters, updates and other organizational communications.
Conferences/Receptions: Hosted annual member meeting to update members and partners on organizational goals and strategies. Held Rural Summit designed to provide networking and educational opportunities for members and partners. Held various regional advocacy and networking receptions around the state.
