Organizations Filed Purposes: THROUGH LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIPS AND DEEP COMMITMENT TO OUR HAITIAN PARTNERS, CHP SUPPORTS LOCALLY-LED INITIATIVES IN RURAL HAITI. WE PROVIDE RESOURCES AND INVESTMENT TO COMMUNITY LEADERS WITH THE GOAL OF IMPROVING ACCESS TO EDUCATION, HEALTH AND WELLNESS, JOBS AND OPPORTUNITY.

EDUCATION: THE COLORADO HAITI PROJECT SUPPORTS OPERATIONS AT ST. PAUL'S PRE-SCHOOL, PRIMARY, AND SECONDARY SCHOOL IN PETIT TROU. DURING THE 2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR 356 STUDENTS ATTENDED. IN ADDITION TO THE STATE-MANDATED CURRICULUM, ST. PAUL'S PROVIDES HANDS-ON EDUCATION IN AGRICULTURE, GIRLS' EMPOWERMENT, AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP. IN HIGHER EDUCATION, CHP HAS FUNDED SCHOLARSHIPS FOR OVER 30 STUDENTS SINCE ITS FOUNDING. IN 2019, THE COLORADO HAITI PROJECT FUNDED COMPLETION OF A NEW PRE-K TO 6TH GRADE BUILDING ON THE CAMPUS OF ST. PAUL'S SCHOOL.

AGRICULTURE: CHP SUPPORTS FAMILY FARMS BY PROVIDING ACCESS TO SEED, TOOLS, GOATS, TRAININGS, AND CONSULTATIONS FROM A FULL-TIME STAFF AGRONOMIST IN PETIT TROU. IN ADDITION, THIS AGRONOMIST WORKS WITH STUDENTS AT ST. PAUL'S SCHOOL, PROVIDING FORMAL INSTRUCTION IN THE CLASSROOM AS WELL AS HANDS-ON LEARNING SESSIONS WORKING ON THE CAMPUS FARM. THE AGRONOMIST ALSO VISITS WITH FAMILIES OF ST. PAUL'S STUDENTS AND STAFF, PROVIDING RESOURCES AND CONSULTATION THAT INCREASE OUTPUTS AND ACCESS TO NUTRITION.

GIRLS' EMPOWERMENT: CHP PARTNERS WITH LOCAL LEADERS AND EXPERT HAITIAN ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE DEDICATED PROGRAMMING FOR GIRLS' EMPOWERMENT IN PETIT TROU. THIS INCLUDES PAYING AND TRAINING LOCAL MENTORS AND COMMUNITY ACTIVISTS, FUNDING GIRLS' CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES, AND FUNDING PRACTICAL TRAININGS FOR GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN. THIS INITIATIVE PUTS KEY RESOURCES IN THE HANDS OF WOMEN AND PROVIDES GIRLS THE TOOLS AND NETWORKS THEY NEED TO STAY SAFE.
