To provide food to all in need through community partnerships and hunger relief programs. Our vision is a hunger-free Larimer County.
The Food Bank for Larimer County (FBLC, we, us, our) works to ensure that no one goes hungry in Larimer County. We are a nonprofit organization that acts as a centralized agency collecting, storing, and distributing salvageable, usable food to a variety of nonprofit agencies and low-income individuals. Each year, we provide food to more than 37,500 people in need through community partnerships and hunger-relief programs.We collect food and funds from a variety of sources, including businesses, farms, food drives, individuals, and Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization. Food donations are distributed to individuals in need through three overlapping and integrated programs: Fresh Food Share, Nourishing Network and Nutritious Kitchen. Our Fresh Food Share program is one of the nation's largest, client-choice, fresh food pantries. We have locations in Fort Collins and Loveland. Fresh Food Share distributes fruits, vegetables, bread, meat and dairy to an average 11,000 residents each month. Individuals qualify for Food Share based on residency and gross monthly income. Our goal is to provide each person with enough food for at least one meal per day each month. We served 7,652,060 meals to 28,382 individuals representing 12,727 households during the year.Our Nutritious Kitchen provides meals and snacks for a variety of sites serving vulnerable child and senior populations. Our Child Nutrition programs include Kids Cafe and Kids Link. Kids Cafe provides nutritious meals and snacks after school and during the summer at sites throughout Larimer County. Through Kids Cafe, we served 62,453 meals and 119,079 snacks to eligible school-aged children. In partnership with the Junior League of Fort Collins, Kids Link provided 79,922 healthy, individually packaged snacks to all qualifying schools in Poudre and Thompson School Districts. Our Senior Nutrition program provides meals for Volunteers of America congregate senior meal sites. In partnership with VOA, the program provided 19,715 meals for seniors.Nourishing Network provides food to over 100 non-profit organization programs to distribute to their clients in need. These programs include food pantries, kitchens, shelters, and snack programs that serve low-income populations. Each year, we save our partner agencies nearly $1.7 million on food costs. This program distributed 977,190 meals through our partner agencies to those in need.Our new Nutrition Services team provides non-food services to clients through Cooking Matters nutrition education classes and SNAP (food stamps) outreach and application assistance. Last year, we reached 61 participants in recurring nutrition education classes and 155 participants at one-time nutrition education events. We assisted 243 households representing 447 individuals with SNAP applications and recertifications, facilitating access to 167,875 meals through this service.
