Organizations Filed Purposes: To positively transform the people of Boneza, Rwanda out of extreme poverty by focusing on sustainable vocational education, clean and safe water systems, pastoral care, and community/economic development.A thriving Boneza,Rwanda with Christ-centered educated leaders and residents creating hope, health and sustainability for all its people.Arise Rwanda Ministries focuses its mission in several communities in the Boneza Sector (population 24,000) of extremely rural western Rwanda. Located along the shores of Lake Kivu in the fertile hill region, villagers are primarily agrarian tending their personal gardens for their family food, and for trade, larger plots of tea, coffee, bananas, and potatoes. This beautiful region is rich in human resources but underdeveloped in the areas of water and essential infrastructure. It is to this region that we are bringing our mission, ministry and resources, working with the community leaders for steady sustainable progress.

TO POSITIVELY TRANSFORM THE PEOPLE OF BONEZA, RWANDA OUT OF EXTREME POVERTY BY FOCUSING ON SUSTAINABLE VOCATIONAL EDUCATION, CLEAN AND SAFE WATER SYSTEMS, PASTORAL CARE AND COMMUNITY /ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.

Education:The five preschools continue to grow in numbers serving free of cost over 300 of the poorest children in the region. The "Bowl of Porridge" continues to be an important nutritional part of the day along with lessons in numbers, letters and English language. The preschools are preparing the children for success when they attend elementary school. This year KHA graduated it's first class of 21 students, the Pioneers who enrolled in 2015. These graduates have gone on to do different things, including some graduates hired to work at Kivu Hills Academy, while the others went to colleges and universities with the help of scholarships. The fourth class of students of Kivu Hills Academy enrolled in 2019 and the school served over 200 students of which 35% were girls. This is an important achievement as girls culturally do not receive training or employment in the trades. The school's focus is training in the trades of plumbing, electricity, carpentry, masonry and brick making. The school has a fully equipped workshop allowing the students to receive hands on training. With their new skills, the students are developing student run enterprises to help the school become self-sustainable. They have opened a bakery and photo and print shop. KHA also started an Agricultural campus/farms called KHA Farms which is run by one of the first graduates from KHA. The farm now provides 7% of the food to feed the students and staff, a step towards making the campus sustainable. Planning is underway for the addition of a poultry and piggery farm in 2020.The school is fully accredited by the government as a Technical Education and Training (TVET) school and has been recognized as an outstanding program in the country.Construction for the school multi-purpose arena and retaining walls for the school dining room was completed during 2019 and funding was raised for the construction of a girl's dormitory to be built in 2020.

Community Development:It is said that if you want to empower any community, empower women. Women are key to the support and development of communities, especially in rural areas. It is necessary to create sustainable solutions to some of the pressing problems for communities like Boneza through women empowerment programs. One of the challenges that women in Boneza face is access to capital to develop small businesses. Through initiatives like Ubuntu Women Coop, Arise Rwanda is enabling financial inclusion of women through micro finance services creating activities that generate income and allow them to become self-reliant to take care for themselves and their extended families.Pastors Care: Nurturing Community and Religious LeadersLeadership comes from God, but good leaders are nurtured. Arise Rwanda has createda space where leaders can learn and grow their faith and knowledge to better lead others. It is with this that in 2019, we held three pastoral and local leadership training events for 200 local pastors and local leaders in Boneza. We also held three major community events in the Valmark Arena, located at Kivu Hills Academy, with an average of 5,000 people who attended every day. The Rwandan staff, along with a team from the US, visited a prison in Gisenyi with 7,000 people and preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ. An outreach event was held at the IWAWA rehab center for 4,000 young men that are being rehabilitated from drugs and alcohol. In all of these events, lives are changed and others are saved.A vehicle was purchased for the local staff so that they could travel safely throughout the community.

Water Projects:Water Access: Bringing life to BonezaWater is life, they say, and it is true. Arise Rwanda is bringing life to Boneza through its access to clean and safe water. Years ago, Boneza was struggling to get clean and safe water regardless of the fact that they are strategically located near Lake Kivu. They did not have the resources needed to refine water for usage. With the support of our donors, this year alone, Arise Rwanda has been able to construct two water wells for communities of Bugarura II and Bushaka. More than 3000 people now have access to clean and safe water.
