Organizations Filed Purposes: THE UNIVERSITY YMCA SHALL CHALLENGE AND NURTURE THE MIND AND SPIRIT OF INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES TO DEVELOP AND PRACTICE ETHICAL PRINCIPLES AND RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE AND THE INTEGRITY OF OUR NATURAL WORLD.

THE UNIVERSITY YMCA SHALL CHALLENGE AND NURTURE THE MIND AND SPIRIT OF INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES TO DEVELOP AND PRACTICE ETHICAL PRINCIPLES AND RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE AND THE INTEGRITY OF OUR NATURAL WORLD. THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE PROGRAMS INCLUDE INTEGRATION AMONG DIFFERENT SOCIO-ECONOMIC LEVELS, CULTURES, RELIGIONS, RACES, AND GENERATIONS FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AND CHAMPAIGN-URBANA COMMUNITY. THE RESULTS OF THESE PROGRAMS ARE LEARNING LEADERSHIP SKILLS, COMMITMENT, TOLERANCE AND VALUES FOR GOOD CITIZENSHIP.

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: THESE PROGRAMS STRIVE TO PROTECT HUMAN RIGHTS AND ENCOURAGE SOCIAL JUSTICE BY INFORMING, EDUCATION, AND MOBILIZING OTHERS TO ACT TO PROTECT HUMAN DIGNITY, ADDRESS SYSTEMATIC INEQUALITIES, AND ADVANCE EQUALITY. PROGRAMS FIGHT TO PROTECT BASIC POLITICAL AND CIVIL RIGHTS AND WORK TO MAKE SURE BASIC HUMAN NEEDS, SUCH AS EDUCATION AND CLEAN WATER, ARE MET.THIS ALSO INCLUDES THE BAILEY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM; THE FUND WAS ESTABLISHED FROM AN ESTATE FOR STUDENTS WHO DEMONSTRATE A RECORD OF LEADERSHIP AND SCHOLARSHIP. THE ASSOCIATION RECEIVES TWO-THIRDS OF TOTAL TRUST REVENUE THAT IS RESTRICTED FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF A SCHOLARSHIP FUND.

NEW AMERICAN WELCOME CENTER: THE NEW AMERICAN WELCOME CENTER AT THE UNIVERSITY Y WORKS TO MAKE OUR COMMUNITY A PLACE WHERE ALL IMMIGRANTS CAN THRIVE AND FLOURISH. WE DO THIS BY ENGAGING LOCAL INSTITUTIONS AND MOBILIZING COMMUNITY RESOURCES TO ENSURE EQUITABLE ACCESS TO SERVICES, ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY, AND MEANINGFUL BELONGING.

ARTS & CIVIC DIALOGUE: THESE PROGRAMS SEEK TO PROMOTE INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING AND CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING BY FACILITATING CRUCIAL DIALOG AND THE EXCHANGE OF CULTURAL PRACTICES. THESE PROGRAMS ALSO SEEK TO CREATE A GLOBAL CONSCIOUSNESS AND PROMOTE INTERNATIONAL SERVICE AND ACTIVISM.
