3Arts advocates for Chicago's women artists, artists of color, and artists with disabilities in the performing, teaching, and visual arts.
3Arts Awards3Arts Awards are unrestricted $25,000 grants and community recognition given to ten Chicago artists annually. Awardees are selected by national jury panels comprised of leaders in their fields. The awards program is the entry point to multiyear support that includes project funding, professional development and residency fellowships. Each new 3Arts awardee participates in Make a Wave, an artist-to-artist giving program in which they select another 10 artists to receive $2,000 grants. 3Arts has distributed $3.8 million and supported 1,000 artists, representing 70% women artists, 70% artists of color, and 10% artists with disabilities working in 68 zip codes in the six-county metropolitan area.
3AP Project Support3Arts artists are invited to participate in 3AP, a unique crowdfunding platform that supports the creation of 20 new arts works annually. 3Arts pays for 1/3 of each project's funding goal, produces the project videos, and provides training in marketing and fundraising in a formal workshop and coaching sessions. To date, 3Arts has supported 137 new art works. 3AP has a 100% success rate.
3Arts Residency FellowshipsEach year, artists who have received a 3Arts Award are eligible for all-expenses-paid, month-long fellowships at one of four partner sites located around the country and in the south of France. Each fellowship includes a stipend and airfare supported by 3Arts. Managed by the Alliance of Artists Communities, 3Arts Fellowships take place at the Camargo Foundation in France; Djerassi Resident Artists Program in CA; the Joan Mitchell Center in LA; and the Rauschenberg Residency in FL. 3Arts also offers a residency in partnership with the MacDowell Colony. Additionally, we provide customized, in-town residencies for artists with disabilities through a partnership with Bodies of Work and the UIC's Department of Disability & Human Development.
