Organizations Filed Purposes: Our Mission is to extend the healing ministry of Jesus. This is accomplished through our values: God Honoring - As a faith based organization, we show respect for God by living justly and in right relationship with God, self, others, and creation. Justice - We respect and protect the dignity of all people by working to ensure that conditions in society allow people to reach their fulfillment, especially by providing health care to all, with special attention to the poor and vulnerable. Integrity - Living authentically, our words and actions are consistent with our identity and mission. Dignity - We are created in God's image and likeness as relational beings. Every person is sacred and of immeasurable worth. Human dignity proclaims our equality and obligates us to respect all persons.

To provide a financially and operationally integrated organization for the common management and operation of the health care facilities and operations of Alexian Brothers Health System ("ABHS") and Adventist Midwest Health ("AMH"), including furthering the respective religious missions of Ascension Health ("Ascension") and Adventist Health System Sunbelt Healthcare Corporation ("Adventist").

The purposes of Alexian Brothers-AHS Midwest Region Health Co. (otherwise known as "AMITA Health" throughout the Form 990) are as follows: - Operate exclusively for charitable, educational, scientific and religious purposes, including furthering the respective religious missions of Ascension Health ("Ascension") and Adventist Health System Sunbelt Healthcare Corporation ("Adventist") - To provide a financially and operationally integrated organization for the common management and operation of the health care facilities and operations of Alexian Brothers Health System ("Alexian") and Adventist Midwest Health ("AMH") with specific goals, including the following: - Increase the quality of health care services in the service areas of Alexian and AMH - Improve the health status of the communities served - Provide a broad scope and a continuum of health care services available through multiple outlets with a focus upon community health benefit - Improve cost effectiveness and efficiencies in the delivery of health care services - Enable the parties to more effectively meet the health care needs in the market by eliminating unnecessary duplication of services, and consolidating managerial decisions - Assume and manage risk in the delivery of health care services - Establish, maintain, support and stimulate the development of a health care network, including, without limitation, hospitals, clinics and other facilities that provide inpatient or outpatient care, accommodation, diagnosis and treatment to persons suffering from injury, disease or any other condition where medical, surgical, rehabilitative, nursing and associated professional services may be required - Foster the conduct of such educational and research activities related to rendering care to the sick and injured or the protection of health - Foster and/or participate in any activity designed and carried on to promote the general health, rehabilitation and social needs of the community - To conduct quality management, quality assurance, risk management activities, and peer review of licensed health care professionals in accordance with the quality management programs established by licensed or certified health care facilities managed and operated by the Corporation Adventist Health System Sunbelt Healthcare Corporation and Ascension Health, the sponsors of Adventist Midwest Health (AMH) and Alexian Brothers Health System (ABHS), respectively, entered into an Affiliation Agreement that established the Joint Operating Company, Alexian Brothers-AHS Midwest Region Health Co. which became operational on February 1, 2015. The purpose of the Joint Operating Company is to provide a financially and operationally integrated organization for the common management and operation of the health care facilities and operations of AMH and ABHS while preserving the Catholic and Adventist identities and mission priorities that define ABHS and Adventist, respectively. In April 2015, we announced AMITA Health as the d/b/a for Alexian Brothers-AHS Midwest Region Health Co. The word AMITA is inspired by words from several languages: friendship in Italian, honesty and truth in Hebrew, and spiritual light and boundlessness in Hindi. These words reflect our core values of friendship, truth, and mutual respect for all, as well as our faith-based call to healing. Although the name is new, the values of our two great organizations will continue to be the foundation of who we are and how we care for our communities into the future. The dedication and promise our caregivers show every day to our patients, their families and each other is deeply rooted in our name - AMITA Health.
