Organizations Filed Purposes: AFIRE is a grassroots community organization that builds the capacity of Filipino/a/sx to organize on issues of social, racial, and economic justice that affect undocumented immigrants, domestic workers, seniors, and youth.

1 Pro Bono Legal Clinics - Free private consultations with specialized attorneys for low-income families. In partnership with attorneys and other non-profits such as the Community Activism Law Alliance CALA and the Filipino American Lawyers Association FALA, AFIRE provides the following legal clinics A Immigration Law B Employment Law and C Civil Law 2 Citizenship Assistance - Low cost application assistance with attorneys and trained volunteers for low-income immigrants. Monthly clinics are held throughout the Chicago area. 3 Workforce Empowerment - We work with low income Filipinos to provide certified First Aid/CPR training, contract templates, and a support network of other workers. Covering the basics of using First Aid and CPR in case of an emergency and practicing with a certified instructor. Includes two-year certification from the American Heart Association. 4 Tagalog Classes - Beginning level classes in the Tagalog language. Topics include grammar, vocabulary, conversational phrases, and social and cultural issues that impact the community. Classes run weekly for 10 sessions total. Tagalog Language programming is held in Fall and Spring. 5 Mental Health - A new project to provide young people the tools to examine their Filipino identity and create resources for themselves and the community at large. Supported with a grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois.
