The American Comparative Literature Association, founded in 1960, is the principal learned society in the United States for scholars whose work involves several literatures and cultures, as well as the premises of cross-cultural literary study itself.
More than 2,500 members attended the ACLA's annual meeting March 27 - 29, 2019, hosted by Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Most of the costs relate to the provision of meeting facilities (including audio-visual equipment) and meals. The exceptionally lively and varied conference included over 200 seminars and a number of special events, including plenary panels on "Re-thinking the Native and Nativism in 2019 - the Significance for Comparison" and "Ethics Before Comparison - What's the Difference".The meeting brought together over 2,500 attendees from across the country and at least fifty other nations.The event requires significant volunteer time from the organizers of the annual meeting, as well by the numerous presenters of the academic sessions..Conference Expenses $ 66,071.
