Organizations Filed Purposes:
To promote fellowship among American Indians of all tribes living in metropolitan Chicago and to create bonds of understanding and communication between American Indians and Non-American Indians. The Organization strives to advance the general welfare of American Indians into the metropolitan community life, foster economic and educational advancement of American Indians, sustain cultural, artistic and vocational pursuits, and perpetuate American Indian cultural values.
Education - The education department's mission is to create and implement safe, positive and empowering learning environments that prepare Native and non-Native youth, adults, elders, and professionals to contribute to the well-being of Indigenous peoples. Components of the education program include, but are not limited to Language Learning Research and Development Childhood Programs Positive Paths and other similar programs.
Arts - The arts area focuses on providing the opportunity for first voice American Indian representation. American Indian artists seldom have the opportunity to be involved with the manner in which their art is represented to the general public. The Organization offers a First Voice Art Gallery that displays Native American art and highlights Native American artists.
Wellness - The wellness area focuses on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of community members. The holistic approach to health means considering the environment as well and the programs include: Medicinal Garden, Senior Program and special events/programming. The Organization believes that everyone deserves to live in harmony and the wellness programming may help community members develop those skills. Current wellness programming consists of a referral program that helps victims of human trafficking get out of that lifestyle.
