THE MISSION IS TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF LIVES BY CONTINUALLY ADVANCING THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF DERMATOPATHOLOGY. THE ASDP SERVES AS THE HUB OF PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE IN THE PRACTICE OF DERMATOPATHOLOGY; PROMOTING ADVANCES IN THE FIELD OF DEVELOPMENTAL OPPORTUNITIES, A PLATFORM FOR VIGOROUS DEBATE, AND TOOLS TO SHARE BEST PRACTICES AMONG FELLOW PRACTITIONERS. THE VISION IS TO REDUCE THE BURDEN OF SKIN DISEASE BY PROMOTING AN ACCURATE AND EFFICIENT DERMATOPATHOLOGIC DIAGNOSIS FOR EVERYONE.
THE MISSION OF THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF DERMATOPATHOLOGY IS:1) IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF DERMATOPATHOLOGY AS PRACTICED BY THE DERMATOLOGIST AND PATHOLOGIST;2) AIDING IN THE DISSEMINATION OF KNOWLEDGE AMONG ESTABLISHED DERMATOPATHOLOGISTS;3) TEACHING OF DERMATOPATHOLOGY; AND ENCOURAGING RESEARCH IN DERMATOPATHOLOGY AND ALLIED FIELDS.
OUR MISSION IS TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF LIVES BY CONTINUALLY ADVANCING THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF DERMATOPATHOLOGY. THE ANNUAL MEETING HELD IN THE FALL IS PRIMARILY AN EDUCATIONAL ONE, OFFERING APPROXIMATELY 870 MEMBERS, FELLOWS, RESIDENTS, NONMEMBERS AND MEDICAL STUDENTS, 177 LECTURES ON CURRENT TOPICS IN DERMATOPATHOLOGY, INTERACTIVE SESSIONS AT THE MICROSCOPE, A SELF-ASSESSMENT COURSE, AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR POSTER AND ABSTRACT PRESENTATIONS.
THE MONTHLY JOURNAL OF CUTANEOUS PATHOLOGY IS MAILED TO APPROXIMATELY 741. APPROXIMATELY 377 MEMBERS HAVE CHOSEN TO RECEIVE THE MONTHLY JOURNAL OF CUTANEOUS PATHOLOGY IN AN ELECTRONIC FORMAT ONLY. MEMBERS AND AVAILABLE FOR INDIVIDUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS FOR NONRESIDENT ASSOCIATE MEMBERS. THE JOURNAL PUBLISHES MANUSCRIPTS RELEVANT TO DISEASES OF THE SKIN IN A BROAD SENSE, WITH THE AIMS OF ADVANCING SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE REGARDING DERMATOPATHOLOGY AND ENHANCING THE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN CLINICAL PRACTITIONERS AND RESEARCH SCIENTISTS.
