Organizations Filed Purposes: Our mission is to be an organization/network committed to the safety and liberation of all Black people, promoting Black leadership and Black-centered community transformation as we work collectively to build social and economic power, heal our communities and fundamentally transform our society. Our aim is to accomplish Black Liberation and shift society towards greater expressions of justice by dedicating ourselves to moving through organizing, political, philanthropic, and personal spaces with honor, accountability, and an unshakeable, unapologetic love for Black people. We believe that by building critical, cross-sector relationships between individuals and institutions who share our vision for Black liberation, we can engage in forward-thinking public policy campaigns that expand our collective social justice analysis and build the critical mass necessary to bend the moral arc of the universe towards justice.

Blackroots Alliance added value to its partners by helping them strategically expand, pivot, and plan their work. In 2019 we assisted our partners raise up to $100,000 via re-grants, events, and other fundraising efforts. We supported the expansion of our partners by supporting their engagement in cannabis equity, census, general capacity building, prosecutor accountability, police accountability, and non-profit management. We also supported the strategic planning and rebuilding of our partners.

Blackroots Alliance (BA) cultivated public discussions on key justice issues, to ask the hard questions in our community and allowed space for answers from people directly-impacted by issues of injustice. BA convened campaigns that have local expressions and national relevancy including cannabis equity, census, and criminal justice reform. BA also established an online presence with the intention of building an online community that focuses on hosting conversations that help people expand their political analysis, engage in offline activism, and expand their network through online relational organizing.
