Organizations Filed Purposes:
Chicago Learning Exchange works with a growing community of youth-serving organizations, cultural institutions, city agencies, employers, and universities to remake learning in Chicago so it is driven by learners interests, enhanced by technology, and connected to opportunity.
Learning Pathways & Digital Badging: Chicago Learning Exchange bridges education and workforce by illuminating pathways for specific areas (i.e. computer science and energy) and implements alternative credentialing of skills and competencies through digital badging.
Program Development: Chicago Learning Exchange convenes a peer professional learning network for educators to exchange information and learn together through a Community of Practice. Chicago Learning Exchange hosted training sessions with hundreds of OST educators on various topics like social emotional learning, trauma informed care, connected learning guide, asset-based education reporting, etc.
Grantmaking: In 2019, Chicago Learning Exchange issued 11 new grants totaling nearly $100,000 that support summer digital learning opportunities for predominantly African, Latino, Asian, Arab, and Native American (ALAANA) middle-school and high-school aged-youth in Chicago. Chicago Learning Exchange also created the Brother Mike Award, a $5,000 no-strings attached award to honor a Chicago Learning Exchange based outstanding connected mentor.
