EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION - CHRISTOPHER HOUSE'S NATIONALLY RENOWNED, FULL-DAY EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOLS EDUCATE CHILDREN FROM 6 WEEKS TO 5 YEARS OLD. OUR SCHOOLS ADVANCE LITERACY, MOTOR SKILLS, POSITIVE SOCIAL BEHAVIOR, COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT, MATH SKILLS, AND LONG-TERM SUCCESS. OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS, 90% OF 5 YEAR OLDS IN OUR PROGRAM HAVE ACHIEVED KINDERGARTEN-READY LEVELS IN THEIR DEVELOPMENT, AS EVIDENCED BY OUTSTANDING SCORES ON THE TEACHING STRATEGIES GOLD ASSESSMENT. IN 2010, OUR LOGAN SQUARE CENTER WAS CHOSEN AS AN INTERNATIONAL TOUR SITE BECAUSE OF ITS INNOVATIVE AND EFFECTIVE USE OF THE ARTS-INTEGRATIVE REGGIO EMILIA CURRICULUM. FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS, CHRISTOPHER HOUSE HAS SCORED 100% FROM THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG CHILDREN (NAEYC) IN THE AREAS OF ASSESSMENT, TEACHING, AND PARENT/FAMILY RELATIONS. OUR LOGAN SQUARE AND UPTOWN CENTERS ARE THE ONLY CHILDCARE FACILITIES IN CHICAGO, AND 2 OF ONLY 7 FACILITIES IN THE ENTIRE STATE OF ILLINOIS, TO EARN PRESTIGIOUS 4-STAR RATINGS ON ILLINOIS QUALITY RATING SCALE (QRS). AFTER A COMPETITIVE APPLICATION PROCESS , CHRISTOPHER HOUSE WAS AWARDED A $5 MILLION GRANT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF OUR BELMONT CRAGIN CENTER FROM THE ILLINOIS CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD - ONE OF ONLY 3 MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR GRANTS AWARDED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION FACILITIES.
CHRISTOPHER HOUSE ELEMENTARY CHARTER SCHOOL IS AN INNOVATIVE NEW SCHOOL OFFERING A CONTINUUM OF EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN FROM KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 8TH GRADE. CHRISTOPHER HOUSE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'S MISSION IS TO DEVELOP INDEPENDENT, CREATIVE, LIFELONG LEARNERS IN A SCHOOL WHERE STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND PARENTS FORM A COMMUNITY COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE, PERSEVERANCE, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, AND COMPASSION. THE SCHOOL'S RIGOROUS COLLEGE PREP CURRICULUM DEVELOPS CRITICAL THINKERS WHO WILL SUCCEED IN HIGH SCHOOL, COLLEGE, AND BEYOND.
FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES PROVIDES FREE COUNSELING FOR THE LOW-INCOME CHILDREN, PARENTS, AND FAMILIES WHO ARE ENROLLED IN OUR CONTINUUM OF SCHOOLS. LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKERS PARTNER CLOSELY WITH CLIENTS OF ALL AGES, PROVIDING INDIVIDUALLY TAILORED AND CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE CARE. THROUGH OUR SERVICES, PARENTS ARE ABLE TO ADDRESS THEIR MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS AND BUILD A STABLE HOME ENVIRONMENT THAT ENCOURAGES THEIR CHILD'S HEALTHY DEVELOPMENT. OUR HIGH-QUALITY SOCIAL WORK SERVICES INCLUDE: INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY COUNSELING; CRISIS COUNSELING; PARENT, CHILD, AND YOUTH SUPPORT GROUPS; PARENT WORKSHOPS; PARENT AND STAFF CONSULTATIONS TO HELP MANAGE DIFFICULT SITUATIONS IN THE CLASSROOM AND AT HOME. OUR PRENATAL AND PARENT EDUCATION STAFF CREATES A STRONG SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR NEW PARENTS THROUGH WEEKLY HOME VISITS, SUPPORT GROUPS, AND EDUCATION WORKSHOPS.
