The mission of Dime Child Foundation is to provide educational resources and services to youth to help ensure them hope for a promising future. Dime utilizes programs that emphasize the importance of education, mentoring, leadership, social, and moral values.
Mentoring Dimes is a 21CCLC program that takes place after-school to provide academic enrichment, tutoring, cultural activities, and recreational and service learning opportunities to students in 5th through 8th grades. Its goals are to increase the academic success of participants, nuture mental well-being of students and eradicate negative social beliefs by serving nearly 100 youth each year.
Life skills provides youth with training in key areas that are important to live life as a successful adult. Youth attend classes on Saturday or during the week as required and are taught by a trained instructor. Youth learn about financial literacy, healthcare, education, job preparation, housing, community engagement, transporation, parenting and prevention, and self sufficiency. Youth are divided into groups according to age and participate in hand on activities focused on life skills.
Upward Bound is a nationally acclaimed program that serves hundreds of high school students each year. The program provides suport, tutoring, and opportunities such as college tours and financial aid workshops to participants in their preparation for college entrance. It seeks to increase the rate at which low-income, first-generation students graduate from institutions of post-secondary education.
