Organizations Filed Purposes:
Grassroots Collaborative unites eleven membership-based organizations in order to create policy change on local and statewide levels. The Organization's alliance spans diverse ethnicities and a variety of organizing networks; including low-wage service employees, the homeless, senior citizens, immigrants, faith leaders, and residents of poor and working-class neighborhoods.Member organizations include Action Now Institute, American Friends Service Committee, Brighton Park Neighborhood Council, Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, Chicago Teachers Union, Enlace Chicago, Illinois Hunger Coalition, Jane Addams Senior Caucus, Logan Square Neighborhood Association, Organization Neighborhoods for Equality: Northside (ONE Northside), and Service Employees International Union-SEIU Healthcare Illinois Indiana.
Coalition organizing, leadership development & civic engagement in low to mid-income communities
Grassroots Collaborative works on a range of campaigns at the state level, in Chicago, and Peoria. The Organization focuses on deep political education and leadership development of grassroots leaders of our member organizations, as well as key ally organizations. We ran leadership academies in Chicago and Peoria, on racial and economic justice. The Organization's main campaigns in 2018 included: the Fair Tax campaign, Peoria Public Schools TIF campaign, and Reimagine Chicago, which focused on raising progressive revenue to fund the services and schools we need at the local and state level.
