Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation (The Foundation) is a 501(c)(4) not-for-profit organization established in December 1999 to support programs & projects that improve energy efficiency, develop renewable resources, and preserve natural areas and wildlife habitats in Illinois. The Foundation PROVIDEs FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE TO PUBLIC OR PRIVATE ENTITIES IN ILLINOIS FOR PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS THAT BENEFIT THE PUBLIC BY SUPPORTING PROJECTS THAT IMPROVE ILLINOIS' ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY.

NATURAL AREAS - THE NATURAL AREAS PROGRAM IS ESTABLISHED TO PRESERVE AND ENHANCE NATURAL HABITATS AND WILDLIFE AREAS IN ILLINOIS BY GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. FOUNDATION GRANTS SUPPORT LAND ACQUISITION, PLANNING EFFORTS LEADING TO LAND ACQUISITION, NONPROFIT CAPACITY BUILDING AND HABITAT RESTORATION.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY -THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROGRAM IS ESTABLISHED TO ADVANCE THE GOAL OF MAKING ENERGY EFFICIENCY THE NORM IN PUBLIC FACILITIES OPERATED BY GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. THE FOUNDATION HAS DEVELOPED A SET OF "GREEN BUILDING" PROGRAMS AND GRANT PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT ENERGY EFFICIENT LIGHTING UPGRADES, ENERGY EFFICIENT BUILDING DESIGN AND COMMISSIONING, LEADING-EDGE ENERGY EFFICIENCY BUILDING SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGIES, ENERGY EFFICIENT BUILDING CODES AND BUILDING PUBLIC DEMAND FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY.
RENEWABLE ENERGY - THE RENEWABLE ENERGY PROGRAM IS ESTABLISHED TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF CLEAN, RENEWABLE ENERGY GENERATION IN ILLINOIS BY GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. BY FUNDING A VARIETY OF TECHNOLOGIES OPERATING IN DIFFERENT SETTINGS, AND INCREASINGLY REQUIRING THE REPORTING AND PUBLIC SHARING OF PERFORMANCE INFORMATION, THE FOUNDATION IS PROVIDING A VALUABLE SERVICE TO THIS EMERGING AND RAPIDLY EXPANDING TECHNOLOGY FIELD. GRANT PROGRAMS SUPPORT WIND ENERGY AT BOTH THE FEASIBILITY AND INSTALLATION STAGES, SOLAR ENERGY AT BOTH THE GENERATION AND EDUCATIONAL SCALES AS WELL AS ADVANCING THE DEVELOPMENT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY RESOURCES.
