Organizations Filed Purposes:
To promote employment, education, health, housing, and other opportunities for migrant and seasonal workers and their families, limited English language individuals, and other disadvantaged minorities to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
Workforce Investment Opportunities Act (WIOA) -WIOA provides workforce investment activities through statewide and local workforce investment systems that increases the employment, retention, and earnings of participants, and increases occupational skill attainment by participants to improve the quality of the workforce.
Illinois Migrant Education Resource Project (IMERP) -IMERP is in place to coordinate the identification and recruitment effort for the Illinois Migrant Education Program and provide curricular and instructional support and professional development for MEP administrators and staff, support the engagement of parents in the education of their children, facilitate credit accruals for participating secondary students, and coordinate resources across programs and agencies on behalf of eligible migrant children and youth. Accomplished was the delivery of technical assistance in Illinois school districts, regional offices of education and community colleges, and local operating agencies, on-going training activities and annual Migrant Education Workshop.
Migrant Education Program (MEP) -MEP provides direct services to migrant children, youth (preschool through high school and out-of-school), and families in various locations throughout the state. Accomplishments included home-based instruction, family literacy, instructional technology, and identification and recruitment of children and youth eligible for the federally-funded MEP.
