Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Jewish Council on Urban Affairs (JCUA) longstanding mission is to combat poverty, racism, and antisemitism working in partnership with diverse communities across Chicago. Through a community organizing model, JCUA organizes the Jewish community of Chicago to be a powerful partner in advancing meaningful social change.

Community Organizing: JCUA works on a grassroots level as an ally and partner in coalition with communities directly affected by poverty and racism. Current issue campaigns include working for urgently-needed police accountability and citizen oversight in Chicago, working for immigration justice on the city and state level, and advancing the statewide Fair Tax to fully and equitably fund essential human and social services.
Youth Engagement: JCUA's Youth Engagement programs educate cohorts of high school and college-aged youth throughout the academic year, teaching them about Jewish social justice from a root-cause perspective, building up their community organizing skills, strengthening their Jewish identities, helping them to become civically engaged, and fostering their development as compassionate youth leaders.
Community Investment: JCUA's Community Ventures Program provides zero-interest predevelop loans for projects focused on affordable housing and job creation. Individuals and financial institutions participate in JCUA's revolving loan fund with loans and grants targeted primarily to nonprofit developers. Through this program, JCUA serves as a catalyst for affordable housing and community development initiatives that strengthen neighborhoods.
