JVS Chicago serves more than 2,300 employees, employers and entrepreneurs annually with programs for adults, youth, seniors and people with disabilities, serving entry level to advanced career job seekers, at locations across Metropolitan Chicago. Services include career counseling, job skills training and customized job training, job placement, credit building, small business development, access to capital and more.
Contract Services:As a trusted provider of SourceAmerica (AbilityOne) and State Use contracts, JVS Chicago administers contracts with federal and state agencies that provide crucial job training and employment support to adults with disabilities. JVS Chicago Contract Services is dedicated to empowering adults with disabilities with the skills necessary to lead productive and meaningful lives. Mailroom, janitorial, property management and warehousing programs provide case management, vocational training and job placement services to more than 100 adults with disabilities throughout metropolitan Chicago, deepening their skills and strengthening their employability.
Rehabilitation and Skills Training: JVS Chicago is known for its expertise in working with adults and youth with disabilities, including those in need of targeted job search, customized job placement and retention, onsite job coaching, paid and unpaid work experience, and interpreting assistance for those who are deaf and hard of hearing. Certified Pharmacy Technician training allows low income jobseekers to acquire certification as pharmacy technicians, enabling them to pursue career paths in the allied health professions. Skills training is the bridge for so many to competitive employment, independence and renewed self-esteem.
Job Counseling and Placement:JVS Chicago offers comprehensive career development services for jobseekers of all experiences and abilities, including recent college graduates, executives in transition, those who are unemployed and underemployed, and career changers. Services include customized career counseling, workshops in job search skills, resume writing, social networking, interviewing networking events, and job placement for jobseekers at all stages of their careers.
