JOBS PROVIDED FUNDING TO A JOB READINESS AND BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IN THE NORTH LAWNDALE COMMUNITY OF CHICAGO, IL. THE PROGRAM SERVES 150 YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN FROM LOW-INCOME, UNDER SOURCED COMMUNITIES. THE INDIVIDUALS WILL BE BETWEEN THE AGES OF 18 AND 24 AND ARE OUT OF SCHOOL AND OUT OF WORK. THE PROGRAM WILL CONNECT THE INDIVIDUALS TO PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYERS BY MATCHING THEIR SKILLS, EDUCATION AND WORK HISTORY. THE JOB READINESS TRAINING WILL INCLUDE "DRESS FOR SUCCESS", RESUME WRITING, INTERVIEWING SKILLS AND JOB APPLICATIONS.

JOBS PROVIDED FUNDING TO A HOMELESS SHELTER IN AURORA, IL CALLED PUBLIC ACTION TO DELIVER SHELTER (PADS) DBA HESED HOUSE. THE GOALS OF HESED HOUSE IS TO PROVIDE THE BASIC NEEDS OF HOMELESS PERSONS, INCLUDING FOOD AND SHELTER AND TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES ON WHAT MADE THE PERSON HOMELESS AND GET THEM BACK TO INDEPENDENT LIVING. THE HESED HOUSE DEVELOPED A JOB REDINESS TRAINING PROGRAM CALLED HEAT (HESED EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING). IN THE PROGRAM THE HOMELESS PERSON WORKS IN THE HESED HOUSE FACILITY ON BASIC MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING JOBS WHERE THEY TEACH THEM THE SOFT SKILLS OF GETTING UP IN THE MORNING, PERSONAL HYGIENE AND WORK SKILLS THAT WILL GET THE INDIVIDUAL READY FOR THE WORKPLACE OUTSIDE OF HESED HOUSE.

JOBS PROVIDED FUNDING TO SECOND HELPINGS, A FOOD RESCUE AND DISPENSARY FACILITY THAT SERVICES THE LOW INCOME COMMUNITIES IN THE INDIANAPOLIS, IN AREA. SECOND HELPINGS RESCUES PREPARED AND PERISHABLE FOOD FROM WHOLESALERS, RETAILERS AND RESTAURANTS-PREVENTING UNNECESSARY WASTE. THAT RESCUED FOOD IS USED TO CREATE 4,000 HOT NUTRITIOUS MEALS EACH DAY THAT ARE DISTRIBUTED TO MORE THAN 90 SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES THAT FEED PEOPLE IN NEED. IN ADDITION, SECOND HELPINGS TRAINS PERSONS IN LOW INCOME COMMUNITIES FOR CAREERS IN THE FOOD SERVICES INDUSTRY. THIS JOB TRAINING PROGRAM IS WHAT JOBS FUNDED. MORE THAN 840 ADULTS HAVE GRADUATED FROM THE JOB TRAINING PROGRAM.
