Organizations Filed Purposes: To promote and support Lane Tech through the provision of meaningful programs, events, and services that connect alumni and students to one another, to the school, and to other groups or individuals whose mission aligns with the Lane Tech Alumni Association. We seek to cultivate a spirit of loyalty and lifelong commitment to our alma mater and camaraderie with fellow alumni.

Established in 1985, the LTAA Scholarship Program is the hallmark philanthropic initiative for the LTAA with a cumulative total of $2,163,930 gifted over the 35-year lifespan of the program. In FY2019/20, thirty-one graduating seniors received scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $10,000, setting them on a path for success for at least their freshman year, and in some cases, for four years. 44% of the students at Lane Tech are from low or moderately low income families. Many are from immigrant families, single parent homes, first generation college freshman, and all have some level of financial need, compounded by Covid-related economic stressors. LTAA scholarships are especially meaningful as they come from donors who are also graduates of Lane, or have given their gifts in honor of family members who were alumni or faculty. The LTAA solicits scholarship donors, designs and administers the programs, distributes funds, and tracks the results.

The LTAA Teacher Innovation Grant Program was established in 2010 to offset system-wide budget deficiencies and promote best-in-class curriculum. The cumulative total of innovation awards has reached $255,547 since the program's inception. Grants have supported championship mock trial teams, provided athletic uniforms and equipment, musical instruments, scientific and robotics equipment, theatrical costumes and props, shop equipment, and much more. Teacher Innovation Grants touch virtually every one of the more than 4,500 students at Lane, and enable the faculty and staff to offer more programs and extracurricular activities than any other CPS high school. The LTAA has also underwrites a college tour sponsorship program where juniors and seniors can visit regional colleges and universities they might not otherwise consider, expanding choices for higher education.

Connecting people and community-building is a primary focus of the LTAA. Constituent groups include over 9,000 alumni, 4,500 students and 350 faculty and staff, as well as affinity groups like the Friends of Lane, Local School Council, Football and Baseball Alumni groups, the JROTC Cavalry Alumni group and the Black Alumni Group. The LTAA publishes a triannual magazine that reaches more than 3,500 readers, and offers a robust communication/information conduit through various social media platforms which have a combined 20,000 followers, and hundreds of thousands of impressions. Regular social and networking events, Speakers Forum Series and Class Reunions also fall under the purview of the LTAA, as well as various athletic and community events.
