SOMA'S PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE IS TO EDUCATE AND PREPARE OSTEOPATHIC LEADERS AND ADVOCATES BY MAINTAINING OPEN COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS.
SOMA provides two national education conventions annually for osteopathic students to learn about the latest issues affecting their profession and garner more hands-on experience in workshops. Throughout the year, SOMA provides updates to members via weekly emails, social media posts and word-of-mouth to advertise open leadership positions in SOMA and affiliated organizations, requests for feedback on critical issues, and professional development opportunities. In addition, SOMA has a pre-medical student arm that teaches interested undergraduate students about the osteopathic profession and delivers opportunities to hear from osteopathic leaders as well as participate in workshops that will prepare them for life as a medical student.
