The mission of the Center for Independence through Conductive Education is to maximize the independence of children and young adults with disabilities.
THE CENTER FOR INDEPENDENCE THROUGH CONDUCTIVE EDUCATION PROVIDES INTENSIVE MOTOR TRAINING SERVICES BASED ON THE PRINCIPLES OF CONDUCTIVE EDUCATION TO CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS WITH CEREBRAL PALSY. THE CENTER HAS REGULARLY SCHEDULED MOTOR TRAINING PROGRAMS. PARTICIPANTS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES WORK WITH THE CENTERS TRANSDISCIPLINARY TEAM OF PHYSICAL THERAPISTS, OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS AND CONDUCTIVE EDUCATION TEACHERS. PARTICIPANTS ARE TAUGHT TO BE MORE FUNCTIONALLY INDEPENDENT WITH AN ATTITUDE OF SELF-HELP AND SELF-DETERMINATION. THE CENTER ALSO OFFERS VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS TO YOUNG ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF EXPANDING WORKFORCE PARTICIPATION.
