Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE FOUNDATION'S PURPOSE IS TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE DOLE MANSION AND LAKESIDE PROPERTY FOR COMMUNITY USE IN A NATURAL AND HISTORIC SETTING.
PART OF LAKESIDE LEGACY FOUNDATION'S (LLF) MISSION AND VISION IS TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE DOLE MANSION AND LAKESIDE ARTS PARK FOR THE COMMUNITY TO EXPERIENCE AND BE INSPIRED BY ART, ARTISTS AND IT'S EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING. LLF HAS ACHIEVED AND CONTINUES TO DO SO BY OFFERING ARTIST STUDIOS AND EVENT RENTAL SPACE FOR THEM TO EDUCATE OR CREATE THEIR OWN INSPIRING WORKS. LLF HAS 40 ARTIST STUDIOS OF WHICH 70% OF THE STUDIOS WHERE OCCUPIED DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS OF 2019. ARTISTS OF ALL GENRE (I.E. PAINTERS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, MUSICIANS, RECORDING ARTISTS, A CREATIVE WRITER, GRAPHIC DESIGNER AND QUILTER ETC.) OPERATED THEIR BUSINESSES AND/OR JUST CREATE THEIR WORKS OUT OF THESE STUDIOS AND/OR EVENT SPACE.
LAKESIDE LEGACY FOUNDATION HAD TWO MAIN PROGRAMS. THE FIRST MAIN PROGRAM IS 1ST FRIDAY ART SHOWS WHICH OCCUR 9 MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR. IN 2019, 1ST FRIDAY ART SHOWS COLLECTIVELY HAD OVER 4,000 IN ATTENDANCE. THERE WERE 500+ EMERGING ARTISTS, 100+ PROFESSIONAL CALIBER ARTISTS THAT SHOWCASED THEIR WORK EITHER IN THE SAGE GALLERY AND DOLE GALLERY. 'THE LISTENING ROOM', THE SECOND LARGEST PROGRAM, HAD OVER 30+ PERFORMANCES WITH THOUSANDS IN ATTENDANCE OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR. 19% OF THE PERFORMANCES WERE POP/ROCK, 5% BLUES/ JAZZ, 9% CLASSICAL AND 67% OTHER.
LAKESIDE LEGACY FOUNDATIONS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FLOURISHED IN 2019. THE CULINARY PROGRAM CALLED CHEF KITCHEN FOR YOUTH GREW FROM 2 CLASSES IN 2014 TO 8 CLASSES IN 2018. THE OFFERING OF CULINARY EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE GREW FROM MAKING HEALTHY SNACKS TO UNDERSTANDING THE IMPORTANCE OF KITCHEN SANITATION AND SAFETY TO CREATING A DELICIOUS DESSERTS AND/OR HEALTHY OMELETS. AN ADULT CULINARY CLASS WAS ADDED IN 2018 AND A VARIETY OF SOUPS WERE MADE. IN 2019 THERE WERE SUMMER COOKING CAMPS FOR KIDS AND A SENIOR COOKIN GCLASS THAT WARE ADDED. LAKESIDE ALSO CONTINUED THE DAY AT THE DOLE PROGRAM WITH THREE PROGRAMS IN 2018. ATTENDANCE GREW TO SERVE OVER 150 GUESTS FROM COMMUNITY GROUPS, PARK DISTRICTS, AND SOCIAL CLUBS FROM OUTSIDE OF MCHENRY COUNTY. LAUNCHED IN 2016, DAY AT THE DOLE IS AN ALL-ENCOMPASSING DAY OF HISTORY, ART, AND MUSIC. GUESTS ENJOY A GUIDED THEMED TOUR OF THE HISTORIC DOLE MANSION, PRESENTATION BY A LOCAL HISTORIAN, LUNCH IN THE ART GALLERIES, AND AN AFTERNOON CONCERT IN 'THE LISTENING ROOM' AT THE DOLE. DAY AT THE DOLE AIMS TO PROVIDE A UNIQUE EDUCATIONAL AND SOCIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR ACTIVE SENIOR CITIZENS, COMMUNITY CLUBS, AND PARK DISTRICTS, INCREASE TOURISM AND REPEAT VISITS TO CRYSTAL LAKE AND MCHENRY COUNTY, AND INSPIRE AND EDUCATE GUESTS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION EFFORTS IN OUR COMMUNITIES. AN EDUCATIONAL EVENT ENTITLED "A CHANCE IN THIS WORLD" WHICH HAPPENED IN FEBRUARY 2019 FOCUSING ON A BOOK OF THE SAME NAME AND IT'S AUTHOR, WHO OVERCAME IMMENSE ADVERSITY.
