MORE SPECIFICALLY, THE PROPERTY LOSS RESEARCH BUREUA STRIVES TO:1. PROMOTE THE ACHIEVEMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF COMPETENCE AMONG THOSE REPRESENTING INSURERS IN THE ADJUSTMENT OF INSURANCE CLAIMS.2. PROVIDE RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS OF CLAIMS COVERAGE ISSUES. 3. PROMOTE CLARITY IN, AND UNDERSTANDING OF, INSURANCE POLICY LANGUAGE.4. PROMOTE DESIGN OF INNOVATIVE, FAIR AND EFFICIENT CLAIMS ADJUSTING PRACTICES. 5. ARRANGE AND CREATE EFFECTIVE INDUSTRY TRAINING PROGRAMS. 6. CONTRIBUTE TO THE INDUSTRY'S CLAIMS RESPONSE, ASSIST AND EDUCATE CATASTROPHE CLAIMS PERSONNEL, AND AID CATASTROPHE VICTIMS THROUGH PUBLIC INFORMATION.7. COOPERATE WITH OTHER PROPERTY AND CASUALTY INDUSTRY GROUPS, ASSOCIATIONS, AND OTHERS IN THEIR EFFORTS TO ENHANCE THE KNOWLEDGE AND PROFESSIONALISM OF THE INDUSTRY AND ITS SERVICE.

THE BUREAU'S 2020 MEMBERSHIP CENSUS WAS MADE UP AS FOLLOWS: 1033 MEMBER COMPANIES AND 221 AFFILIATE MEMBERS. SERVICES TO THESE MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDED EDUCATION AND TRAINING, LEGAL AND CLAIMS RESEARCH SERVICES, AND OTHER SERVICES.
THE MAJOR CONFERENCES HELD IN 2020 WERE THE VIRTUAL CONFERENCE, EXPO FOR CLAIMS PROFESSIONALS, SOLUTIONS TO YOUR COVID-19 ADJUSTING CHALLENGES, AND LARGE LOSS CONFERENCE. ATTENDENCE FOR EACH CONFERENCE WAS AS FOLLOWS:EXPO FOR CLAIMS PROFESSIONALS - 1415 (84% MEMBERS, 9% AFFILIATES)SOLUTIONS TO YOUR COVID-19 ADJUSTING CHALLENGES - 740 (72% MEMBERS, 20% AFFILIATES)LARGE LOSS CONFERENCE - 2538 (93% MEMBERS, 4% AFFILIATES)
PLRB PROVIDES AN EVER-GROWING INVENTORY OF CONTINUING EDUCATION ACCREDITED SELF-STUDY MODULES. MATERIALS ARE PREPARED BY STAFF, INDUSTRY VOLUNTEERS, OR ARE EDITED VIDEO-RECORDED PRESENTATIONS BY THE INDUSTRY'S LEADING CLAIMS SERVICE PROVIDERS AT OUR CLAIMS CONFERENCE. THESE MODULES CAN BE ACCESSED FROM ANY WEB ENABLED PC. TEST RESULTS ARE TRACKED BY PLRB, CERTIFICATES OF COMPLETION CAN BE PRINTED OUT BY THE USER, AND PLRB HAS AUTOMATED MUCH OF THE PROCESS BY WHICH THE USER APPLIES FOR AND RECEIVES CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT. IN 2020, 27,362 USERS PARTICIPATED IN 88 DIFFERENT MODULES, OF WHICH 15,966 MODULES WERE COMPLETED BY USERS. ALSO IN 2020, PLRB PROVIDED 14 WEBINARS THAT REGISTERED 6,100 LOGINS AND AN ESTIMATED 6,614 TOTAL VIEWERS BASED ON PARTICIPANT SURVEYS.
