EXAMPLE: LITERACY CONNECTION PROVIDED ADULT LITERACY INSTRUCTION TO 175 INDIVIDUALS. ASSOCIATION FOR INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT PROVIDED JOB TRAINING TO 130 ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENT DISABILITIES OF WHICH 62% OF THEM MAINTAINED EMPLOYMENT FOR AT LEAST 90 DAYS. TARGET AREA 2 - BASIC NEEDS: LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS UTILIZE A SAFETY NET SERVICE THAT SUPPORTS THEIR BASIC NEEDS IN TIME OF EMERGENCY. EXAMPLE: PADS OF ELGIN PROVIDED 11,869 NIGHTS OF SHELTER TO 455 CLIENTS. OVER 1.3 MILLION MEALS WERE PROVIDED TO FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS THROUGH AREA FOOD PANTRIES, SHELTERS, AND HOME VISITATION SERVICES. TARGET AREA 3 - ACCESS TO HEALTH: INDIVIDUALS BEGIN AND SUSTAIN HEALTHY LIVES - PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SOCIAL WELL-BEING. EXAMPLE: 998 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED MENTAL HEALTH THERAPY SERVICES; 78% DEMONSTRATED IMPROVED COPING SKILLS. 636 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED COUNSELING AND EDUCATION REGARDING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT FROM THE COMMUNITY CRISISCENTER.
EDUCATION: OUR GOAL IS TO ENSURE THAT ALL FAMILIES HAVE THE CAPACITY TO ACT AS PRIMARY CAREGIVERS BY CREATING HOME AND SCHOOL ENVIRONMENTS WHERE CHILDREN AND YOUTH HAVE EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME EDUCATED, SECURE AND PREPARED FOR ADULTHOOD. GOAL 1: SUCCESS BY 6/CREATING SUCCESSFUL EARLY LEARNERS - PROVIDE CHILDREN WITH THE CORE SKILLS TO SUCCEED IN SCHOOL AND ENSURE A HEALTHY START. EXAMPLE: THROUGH EARLY CHILDHOOD LEARNING PROGRAMS AT ELGIN CHILD AND FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER, EASTER SEALS DUPAGE AND FOX VALLEY, AND YWCA ELGIN, 595 PRESCHOOL CHILDREN HAD ACCESS TO QUALITY AFFORDABLE PROGRAMING AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES. NORTHERN ILLINOIS FOOD BANK 240 CHRONICALLY HUNGRY STUDENTS RECEIVED A BACKPACK FILLED WITH ENOUGH NUTRITIOUS FOOD FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR SIBLINGS THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR. GOAL 2: READING SUCCESS - BUILD LITERACY SKILLS TO ENSURE ALL STUDENTS ARE READING AT GRADE LEVEL BY THE END OF THE 3RD GRADE. EXAMPLE: MORE THAN 1,100YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN QUALITY AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS AT THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF ELGIN, THAT MOTIVATED STUDENTS TO STAY IN SCHOOL AND DECREASE RISKY BEHAVIORS. AN AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORING PROGRAM FOR 3RD GRADERS HELPED 94% IMPROVE THEIR READING SKILLS IN ONE SCHOOL YEAR. GOAL 3: COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS - PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS TO ENSURE A COMMUNITY OF ENGAGED AND SUCCESSFUL ADULTS. EXAMPLE: AT THE YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY, 94% OF CADET PARENTS PARTICIPATED IN PARENT EDUCATION MEETINGS, GIVING THEM THE SKILLS TO HELP THEIR COLLEGE-BOUND CHILDREN NAVIGATE THE SYSTEM AND ACHIEVE SUCCESS.
