Organizations Filed Purposes: EMPOWERING YOUNG ISRAELIS, PALESTINIANS, AND AMERICANS TO RAISE THEIR VOICES AS LEADERS OF CHANGE. OUR VISION IS SUPPORTED BY GUIDING PRINCIPLES THAT INFORM OUR DECSIONS AND ACTIONS. WE STAND FOR CREATING IMPACTFUL AND LASTING CHANGE THROUGH DEVELOPING FUTURE LEADERS WHO ARE COMMITTED TO A POSITIVE AND JUST PEACE.

HANDS OF PEACE EMPOWERS YOUNG ISRAELIS, PALESTINIANS, AND AMERICANS AS LEADERS OF CHANGE. THE FOUNDATION OF OUR PROGRAM IS A COMPREHENSIVE GROUP DIALOGUE PROCESS, STRUCTURED TO TAKE INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANTS ON A JOURNEY THAT INCLUDES:-EXPLORING THE CONFLICT TOGETHER-EXPOSURE TO EACH OTHER'S NARRATIVES AND FAITHS-SHARING OF PERSONAL STORIES FOR GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF OUR INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES AND COMMON HUMANITY-INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP ACTIONS THAT CAN BE TAKEN AS INVOLVED LEADERS

OUR SUMMER PROGRAM BRINGS A GROUP OF JEWISH ISRAELI, PALESTINIAN CITIZENS OF ISRAEL, AND PALESTINIAN TEENAGERS TO CHICAGO AND SAN DIEGO FOR A 19-DAY, DIALOGUE BASED EXPERIENCE. THEY ARE JOINED BY A COMPARABLE NUMBER OF AMERICAN TEENS FROM JEWISH, CHRISTIAN, MUSLIM AND OTHER FAITH BACKGROUNDS. AFTER THE FIRST SUMMER, WE ENCOURAGE OUR HANDS TO APPLY FOR A SECOND TIME, IN A NEW AND ENHANCED LEADERSHIP ROLE, AS PART OF OUR EXCEL (XL) PROGRAM. HOST FAMILIES ARE A VITAL PART OF OUR SUMMER PROGRAM EXPERIENCE, ALLOWING THESE FAMILIES TO BE IMMERSED IN THE HANDS OF PEACE COMMUNITY, DEDICATED TO MAKING PEACE POSSIBLE. THERE WERE 86 PARTICIPANTS IN THE 2019 SUMMER PROGRAM. FOLLOWING THE SUMMER PROGRAM, A CRITICAL COMPONENT OF THE HANDS OF PEACE EXPERIENCE IS PARTICIPATING IN OUR ALUMNI CLUBS. THESE CLUBS KEEP PARTICIPANTS CONNECTED IN A VARIETY OF WAYS; IN THE MIDDLE EAST THERE ARE QUARTERLY RETREATS FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS FROM ALL YEARS OF HANDS OF PEACE, AND UNI-NATIONAL MEETINGS FOR EACH DELEGATION. THESE SEMINARS INCLUDE FACILITATED DIALOGUE SESSIONS TO CONTINUE CONVERSATIONS STARTED IN THE SUMMER AND ISRAELI AND PALESTINIAN GUEST SPEAKERS TO EXPOSE ALUMNI TO IDEAS FROM A BROAD SPECTRUM OF POLITICAL VIEWPOINTS. WE ALSO PROVIDE DUAL NARRATIVE TOURS OF NEARBY SITES AND INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES LED BY OUR OLDER ALUMNI, DEMONSTRATING THE CONNECTION BETWEEN BELIEFS AND ACTIONS. THE AMERICAN ALUMNI HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE A TRIP TO THE REGION, ATTEND LOCAL LECTURES AND ARE INVOLVED IN RECRUITMENT. THEY ALSO ENGAGE IN BUILDING ACCEPTANCE IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES AND PARTICIPATE IN INTERFAITH OUTREACH AND ACTIVITIES. WE ALSO OFFER EXCELLENT ADULT PROGRAMMING AND EDUCATIONAL EVENTS FOR OUR AMERICAN AUDIENCE, THROUGH OUR HOPEDUCATION PROGRAM.
