Improving the quality of patient care in the fields of thrombosis and hemostasis, expanding new knowledge in the fields of thrombosis & hemostasis, facilitating translation of basic knowledge into practical applications which benefit clinical practice, and generally advancing the fields of thrombosis & hemostasis by promoting scientific progress and education; all leading to improvements in human health.
Planned the 5th biennial summit and conference to be held in Chicago, IL in April 2020. Summit was converted to a virtual conferenceAttendees and had participants of more than 2675 professionals from more than 50 countries. The Summit will provided a focused forum for participants with an interest in bleeding and clotting disorders to network, learn, and share across disciplines and disease states.
Maintained a website for membership and virtual conference participants
Administered the Travel-To-A-Mentor Award program. This program provides financial support (up to $2500 per award) for one mentee to train for one week with a pre-selected research mentor at their facility anywhere in the US, Canada, or Mexico. Award funds are anticipated to cover air or land transportation, hotel/housing, meals (limited to 60 USD per day), and essential incidental expenses.The specific number of awards made each year is determined by the funds made available from a combination of allocated THSNA Summit revenues, agreed-upon assessments from member organizations, and/or gifts from THSNA pharmaceutical partners and Summit Sponsors.Due to the pandemic, no awards were made in 2020.
