The mission of Research Down Syndrome is to raise awareness of and fund scientific research directed towards the development of safe and effective drug therapies that will improve memory, learning and communication in persons with Down syndrome and address the increased likelihood for Alzheimer's disease.
RESEARCH DOWN SYNDROME RAISED FUNDS THROUGH GENERAL PUBLIC SUPPORT, ASSOCIATION SUPPORT, FUNDRAISING EVENTS AND CORPORATE SUPPORT IN 2014. THE FUNDS RAISED IN 2014 ALLOWED RESEARCH DOWN SYNDROME TO GRANT $315,000 IN AWARDS IN 2014 TO LEADING DOWN SYNDROME COGNITIVE RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND TO SUPPORT SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS.
RESEARCH DOWN SYNDROME INTERACTED WITH THE NATIONAL DOWN SYNDROME RESEARCH CONSORTIUM, NATIONAL DOWN SYNDROME ORGANIZATIONS, AN AFFILIATION OF DOWN SYNDROME COMMUNITY ASSOCIATIONS, INDIVIDUAL DOWN SYNDROME ASSOCIATIONS NATIONWIDE, AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE DOWN SYNDROME COMMUNITY, ALONG WITH THE BROADER PUBLIC, TO RAISE AWARENESS OF DOWN SYNDROME COGNITIVE RESEARCH AND PROVIDE UPDATES ON THE PROGRESS OF THIS RESEARCH.
IN ADDITION TO SUPPORTING THE FOUNDATION MISSION OF SPREADING AWARENESS OF DOWN SYNDROME COGNITIVE RESEARCH AND RAISING FUNDS TO SUPPORT THESE SCIENTIFIC STUDIES, RESEARCH DOWN SYNDROME IN 2014 CONTINUED TO BE A RECOGNIZED NATIONAL LEADER IN ADVOCATING FOR INCREASED LIFE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONS WITH DOWN SYNDROME. RESEARCH DOWN SYNDROME PARTICIPATED IN NATIONAL FORUMS TO ADVOCATE FOR INCREASED PUBLIC SUPPORT OF THIS RESEARCH, AND TO ENGAGE WITH OTHER PARTICIPANTS IN THE DOWN SYNDROME RESEARCH
