TO SUPPORT HEALTH CARE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES IN THE GEOGRAPHIC AREA SERVED BY HIGHLAND PARK HOSPITAL
THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED A GRANT OF $3,000,000 TO SUPPORT HEALTHCARE AT NORTHSHORE UNIVERSITY HEALTHSYSTEM - HIGHLAND PARK HOSPITAL. IN ADDITION THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED 54 GRANTS TO 51 DIFFERENT IRC SECTION 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATIONS THAT PROVIDE HEALTH CARE RELATED SERVICES AND PROGRAMS TO PEOPLE RESIDING IN HIGHLAND PARK, ILLINOIS AND ITS SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. THESE ORGANIZATIONS SUPPORT AND BENEFIT THE HEALTHCARE MISSION OF NORTHSHORE UNIVERSITY HEALTHSYSTEM. THE SERVICES AND PROGRAMS INCLUDE PROVIDING HEALTHCARE, WELLNESS PROGRAMS AND PREVENTATIVE CARE TO THE UNDERPRIVILEGED; CARE FOR PERSONS WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE AND RELATED DEMENTIA; VOCATIONAL AND EMPLOYMENT TRAINING FOR YOUNG ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES; A HEALTH FAIR FOR CHILDREN; PREVENTATIVE PRENATAL EDUCATION AND MEDICAL CARE; A HEALTH AND SAFETY ASSURANCE PROGRAM FOR HANDICAPPED PERSONS; NUTRITION AND FITNESS TRAINING FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES; A SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIM ADVOCACY PROGRAM, INCLUDING ON-SITE CRISIS INTERVENTION, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT AND COURT ADVOCACY; NON-EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE TRANSPORTATION; AN EPILEPSY COUNSELING PROGRAM; HEALTH AND WELLNESS EDUCATION AND COUNSELING FOR LATINO FAMILIES; ADAPTIVE SPORTS AND WELLNESS PROGRAMS FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE A PRIMARY PHYSICAL OR VISUAL IMPAIRMENT; THERAPEUTIC EDUCATION AND RECREATION; ASSISTANCE FOR DISABLED, FRAIL AND ELDERLY RESIDENTS TO STAY IN THEIR HOMES IN THE COMMUNITY; CARE FOR SPECIAL NEEDS INFANTS; SUPPORT FOR BLIND/VISUALLY IMPAIRED CHILDREN; COUNSELING, EDUCATION AND GYNECOLOGICAL CARE FOR AT-RISK ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS; HEALTH EDUCATION, MEDICAL TREATMENT AND COUNSELING FOR YOUTH; CANCER SUPPORT & NETWORKING GROUPS; AN OUTREACH PROGRAM TO HISPANICS/LATINOS WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS; A SURVIVORS OF SUICIDE PROGRAM; MENTAL HEALTH RECOVERY & EDUCATION PROGRAMS; AN EDUCATIONAL SYMPOSIUM FOR STEM CELL TRANSPLANT SURVIVORS; SUPPORT FOR YOUNG ADULTS WITH AUTISM/ASD'S; HEALTHCARE LEGAL AID; FOOD FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES OF SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN; SUICIDE PREVENTION PROGRAMS; PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE; ASSISTANCE TO CHILDREN LIVING IN POVERTY; COUNSELING SERVICES; PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE; MENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY.
