ZONTA INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION SUPPORTS 124 FELLOWSHIPS, SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS TO WOMEN AND GIRLS FROM 40 COUNTRIES. THE FOLLOWING APPROVED CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ARE SUPPORTED BY ZONTA INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION. THE FOUNDATION BECOMES THE CATALYST FOR GREATER SERVICE TO WOMEN THROUGH THE WORLD: AMELIA EARHART FELLOWSHIPTO ASSIST THE FUTURE OF WOMEN IN AEROSPACE-RELATED SCIENCES AND ENGINEERING, ZONTA INTERNATIONAL ESTABLISHED THE AMELIA EARHART FELLOWSHIP IN 1938 IN HONOR OF LEGENDARY PILOT AND ZONTIAN, AMELIA EARHART. TODAY, THE FELLOWSHIP OF US$10,000 IS AWARDED ANNUALLY TO UP TO 30 TALENTED WOMEN, PURSUING PH.D./DOCTORAL DEGREES IN AEROSPACE-RELATED SCIENCES OR AEROSPACE-RELATED ENGINEERING AROUND THE GLOBE. JANE M. KLAUSMAN WOMEN IN BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIPTO ENCOURAGE MORE WOMEN TO PURSUE EDUCATION AND CAREERS IN BUSINESS, ZONTA INTERNATIONAL ESTABLISHED THE JANE M. KLAUSMAN WOMEN IN BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP. ZONTA INTERNATIONAL OFFERS UP TO 32 SCHOLARSHIPS OF US$2,000 EACH AT THE DISTRICT/REGION LEVEL AND SIX INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS IN THE AMOUNT OF US$8,000 EACH. YOUNG WOMEN IN PUBLIC AFFAIRS AWARDRECOGNIZING THAT TO BRING ABOUT SUSTAINABLE CHANGES THAT BENEFIT ALL OF HUMANITY, WOMEN MUST HAVE EQUAL PARTICIPATION IN THE DECISION-MAKING PROCESS, ZONTA INTERNATIONAL ESTABLISHED THE YOUNG WOMEN IN PUBLIC AFFAIRS AWARD IN 1990. THE AWARD RECOGNIZES YOUNG WOMEN, AGES 16-19, WHO DEMONSTRATE SUPERIOR LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND A COMMITMENT TO PUBLIC SERVICE AND CIVIC CAUSES, AND ENCOURAGES THEM TO CONTINUE THEIR PARTICIPATION IN PUBLIC AND POLITICAL LIFE. IN 2019, ZONTA INTERNATIONAL INTRODUCED ITS PILOT WOMEN IN TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP TO ENCOURAGE WOMEN TO PURSUE EDUCATION, CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AND LEADERSHIP ROLES IN TECHNOLOGY. ZONTA AWARDED US$108,000 TO 30 WOMEN.
THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING 31 MAY 2020 BEGINS THE 2ND YEAR OF THE ZONTA INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION 2018-2020 BIENNIUM. THIS FISCAL YEAR, SIXTY-TWO (62) CENTENNIAL GRANTS WERE DELIVERED TO LIKE-MINDED ORGANIZATIONS IN 18 COUNTRIES. THE EXPENSES FOR THE PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS SUPPORTED BY ZONTA INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION WERE RECOGNIZED IN THE FIRST YEAR OF THE BIENNIUM. ZONTA INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION FUNDED TWO PROJECTS THROUGH THE ZONTA INTERNATIONAL SERVICE FUND AND ONE PROJECT THROUGH THE ZONTA INTERNATIONAL STRATEGIES TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN. INTERNATIONAL SERVICE PROJECTSSINCE 1923, ZONTA HAS PROVIDED MORE THAN US$19.2 MILLION TO PROJECTS BENEFITING WOMEN IN 35 COUNTRIES. IN THE 2018-2020 BIENNIUM, TWO PROJECTS WERE FUNDED THROUGH THE ZONTA INTERNATIONAL SERVICE FUND:EID BI EID (HAND IN HAND): SUPPORT TO THE RESILIENCE AND EMPOWERMENT OF SYRIAN REFUGEE AND VULNERABLE JORDANIAN WOMENZONTA HAS COMMITTED US$1 MILLION TO UN WOMEN TO IMPROVE SYRIAN REFUGEE AND JORDANIAN WOMEN'S ACCESS TO SUSTAINABLE AND DECENT EMPLOYMENT, COUPLED WITH PROTECTION SERVICES AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP/ENGAGEMENT, TO ENABLE GREATER EQUALITY AND REDUCED VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN. THIS PARTNERSHIP EXPECTED TO REACH AT LEAST 25,760 DIRECT BENEFICIARIES.LET US LEARN MADAGASCAR: AN INTEGRATED PROGRAM FOR ADOLESCENT GIRLS WITH UNICEF USA ABOUT 90 PERCENT OF MADAGASCAR'S POPULATION LIVES ON LESS THAN US$2 PER DAY, LEAVING CHILDREN PARTICULARLY VULNERABLE. UNICEF USA AND ZONTA WORKED TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR VULNERABLE AND EXCLUDED GIRLS TO REALIZE THEIR RIGHTS TO AN EDUCATION IN A SECURE AND PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENT. PARTNERING WITH THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL EDUCATION, THE PROJECT PROMOTED A COMMON VISION OF INVESTING IN JUNIOR SECONDARY EDUCATION FOR GIRLS AS AN ENTRY POINT FOR EQUITY. (US$1 MILLION)ZONTA INTERNATIONAL STRATEGIES TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMENSINCE THE PROGRAM'S INCEPTION, MORE THAN US$9.5 MILLION HAS BEEN PROVIDED TO SUPPORT PROJECTS IN 46 COUNTRIES. IN THE 2018-2020 BIENNIUM, ONE PROJECT WAS FUNDED THROUGH THE ZONTA INTERNATIONAL STRATEGIES TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN FUND:ENDING CHILD MARRIAGE: A PROGRAMME TO ACCELERATE GLOBAL ACTIONZONTA INTERNATIONAL HAS COMMITTED US$2 MILLION TO UNICEF USA TO SUPPORT THE UNICEF/UNFPA GLOBAL PROGRAMME TO END CHILD MARRIAGE IN 12 COUNTRIES: BANGLADESH, BURKINA FASO, ETHIOPIA, GHANA, INDIA, MOZAMBIQUE, NEPAL, NIGER, SIERRA LEONE, UGANDA, YEMEN AND ZAMBIA. THE PROGRAM IS TURNING COMMITMENT INTO TANGIBLE ACTION TO EFFECT MEANINGFUL AND LASTING CHANGE IN GIRLS' LIVES BY FOCUSING ON FIVE MAIN STRATEGIES: 1) BUILDING THE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE OF GIRLS AT RISK OF CHILD MARRIAGE2) SUPPORTING HOUSEHOLDS IN DEMONSTRATING POSITIVE ATTITUDES TOWARDS ADOLESCENT GIRLS3) STRENGTHENING THE SYSTEMS THAT DELIVER SERVICES TO ADOLESCENT GIRLS4) ENSURING LAWS AND POLICIES PROTECT AND PROMOTE ADOLESCENT GIRLS' RIGHTS5) GENERATING AND USING ROBUST DATA TO INFORM PROGRAMS AND POLICIES RELATING TO ADOLESCENT GIRLS.UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF THESE FIVE MAIN STRATEGIES, EACH COUNTRY WILL HAVE SPECIFIC STRATEGIES THAT RESPOND TO THE CONTEXT AND FACTORS THAT LEAD GIRLS INTO EARLY MARRIAGE.
