DEDICATED TO DEVELOPING THE SPIRIT-MIND-BODY OF ALL PERSONS
YOUTH AND FAMILY DEVELOPMENT - OUR YMCA IS COMMITTED TO NURTURING THE POTENTIAL OF EVERY CHILD THROUGH COGNITIVE, PHYSICAL, AND SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT. IN ALL OUR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS, WE STRIVE TO HELP EACH CHILD ACHIEVE A GREATER SENSE OF WELLBEING: SPECIFICALLY, IN THE AREAS OF SENSE OF BELONGING, ACHIEVEMENT, AND RELATIONSHIPS. WE BELIEVE THAT THESE THREE ELEMENTS ARE VITAL TO A YOUNG PERSON'S DEVELOPMENT AND CHARACTER AND CAN HELP THEM BE THE BEST VERSION OF THEMSELVES. OUR GOAL IS THAT THROUGH OUR RANGE OF PROGRAMS WE CAN SUPPORT YOUTH IN THEIR DEVELOPMENT PROGRESS. WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THIS THROUGH OUR PROGRAMS AND PARTNERSHIPS. WE PARTNERED WITH SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO OFFER PRESCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS AND ELEMENTARY AFTERSCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS, AND SUMMER LEARNING LOSS PROGRAM CALLED POWER SCHOLARS ACADEMY. WE ALSO PARTNERED WITH A LOCAL COMMUNITY PARTNER TO USE THEIR FACILITY TO OFFER YEAR-ROUND SCHOOL-AGE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS, SUMMER CAMP, AND BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS. THESE PARTNERSHIPS AND PROGRAMS OFFERED US THE ABILITY TO REACH MORE YOUTH IN THE HOPES THAT EVERY INDIVIDUAL'S LIFE HAS A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT IN THEIR FAMILY TO HELP THEIR CHILD THRIVE. THIS IMPACT CAN BE PRE-LITERACY AND MATH SKILLS IN PRESCHOOL ENRICHMENT, OR HELP ENCOURAGE A SENSE OF BELONGING AND CONFIDENCE IN LEARNING, OR MAYBE A CHILD MAY REALIZE THAT MORE THAN THIER CAREGIVER OR PARENT CARES FOR THEM AND WANTS WHAT IS BEST FOR THEM.
HEALTHY LIVING THROUGH AQUATICS/SWIMMING - THE Y IS A LEADING VOICE ON HEALTH AND WELLBEING AS WELL AS THE INVENTOR OF GROUP SWIMMING LESSONS. WE BELIEVE THAT EVERY CHILD DESERVES TO KNOW HOW TO SWIM, AND HOW TO BE SAFE AROUND WATER. AQUATIC ACTIVITIES ARE HIGHLY EFFECTIVE METHODS OF SUPPORTING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES AND A GREAT SOURCE OF EXERCISE. OUR SWIMMING AND AQUATICS PROGRAMS NOT ONLY PROVIDE LIFE-SAVING WATER SKILLS TO YOUNG PEOPLE AND ADULTS, BUT THEY ALSO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES TO GAIN SELF-CONFIDENCE AND BUILD A FOUNDATION IN PHYSICAL SKILLS WHICH CAN SUPPORT A PERSONAL HEALTH PROGRAM THAT CAN BE MAINTAINED AT ALL AGES AND FITNESS LEVELS FOR A LIFETIME ALL WHILE HAVING FUN IN THE WATER. BOTH YOUTH AND ADULTS GAIN A TREMENDOUS SENSE OF SELF CONFIDENCE AND SELF-WORTH WHEN LEARNING TO SWIM OR IMPROVING AQUATIC SKILLS. THE Y'S AREA OF FOCUS IS YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, HEALTHY LIVING, AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. IN 2019 WE PROVIDED SWIM LESSONS FOR 1,796 YOUTH AND ADULT, AND AN OPPORTUNITY FOR 127 KIDS FROM AGES 6-18 TO ENGAGE IN COMPETITIVE SWIMMING. IN EVERY ASPECT OF OUR AQUATICS PROGRAM YOUTHS ARE ABLE WHERE THEY ARE ABLE TO LEARN SAFETY AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS WHILE DEVELOPING THE CORE CHARACTER VALUES ESPOUSED BY THE YMCA; CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT AND RESPONSIBILITY.
MEMBERSHIP - THE MEMBERSHIP DEPARTMENT IS THE GATEWAY TO THE Y, AS THEY ARE THE FIRST TO INTERACT WITH OUR CURRENT AND PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS. THE MEMBER ENGAGEMENT TEAM SERVES THE MEMBER BY HELPING THEM NAVIGATE THE Y'S SERVICES AND PROGRAMS TO BEST FIT THEIR NEEDS. WE ENSURE ALL FEEL WELCOMED, CONNECTED, AND ENGAGED AT THE Y. TEAM MEMBERS LISTEN AND UNDERSTAND THE COLLECTIVE NEEDS OF OUR MEMBERSHIP AND ADVOCATE ON THEIR BEHALF SO THAT THE Y IS ALWAYS STRIVING TO BEST ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY THROUGH PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT HELP CHANGE THE BEHAVIORS OF INDIVIDUALS AS THEY ACHIEVE THEIR HEALTH AND WELLNESS GOALS. IT IS THROUGH MEMBERSHIP THAT INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES HAVE ACCESS NOT ONLY TO THE Y FACILITY BUT TO THE MANY COMPLIMENTARY PROGRAMS AND AMENITIES AVAILABLE TO THEM.
