Our philosophy is that every person with a developmental disability is entitled to an opportunity to achieve his/her full potential. It is our purpose to provide or obtain high quality services for those persons. These services will maximize each individual's functioning level so that he/she can more fully experience and participate in life and become a contributing member of the community.
Lawrence/Crawford Association for Exceptional Citizens was established for the purpose of training and employing developmentally disabled adults. We serve approximately 75 clients, provide 240 days of day training, and 365 day of CILA services each year.
This program served 73 unduplicated individuals with developmental disabilities for 240 days. Individuals in this program have more severe disabilities and require more intense supervision and assistance. Individuals were provided with at least 6 hours of service per day. These services include: Pre-vocational and vocational training, contract work, behavior modificatin supports and assistance with a variety of activities of daily living. Class time was provided to facilitate academic improvements, social skills, and to enhance communication skills. These individuals participated in a variety of special activities which promoted community integration. We plan to continue providing these necessary services to developmentally disabled individuals in our community.
This program provided residential services to 7 developmentally disabled individuals. These individuals received 24 hour supervision and assistance is a private residential home for 365 days. This program provided the individuals with the opportunity to live and work in their own community. These services include training and assistance to facilitate the improvement of their activities of daily living skills, social skills, and provided opportunities to participate in special activities, including community integration. Staff, including a registered nurse, are available to assist these individuals in every aspect of their lives. This program provided transportation to and from the workshop, special activities, and for professional and medical appointments. We plan to continue providing these necessary services in the future.
This program served 9 unduplicated individuals with developmental disabilities for 240 days. Individuals in this program are higher functioning and posess the capability of higher productivity and reflect better vocational potential. The goal of this program is to facilitate the maintenance of their abilities and/or improve those abilities to the expectations of community employment. Individuals within this program received the opportunity to participate in contract work. They received continuous vocational training and simulations. Class instruction was provided to assist these individuals to improve their academic, social, and communication skills. They had the opportunity to participate in special activities and outings which promoted socialization and community integration. Our goal is to continue providing these vital services to individuals with developmental disabilities in our community.
