The AANS promotes the highest quality of patient care and advances the specialty of neurological surgery.
American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Inc. (AANS) exists for and is dedicated to the following purposes and principals: 1) To promote the interest of patients and the neurosurgical profession. 2) To provide a communication interface with other groups and represent neurosurgical opinion to preserve and achieve the principles and purposes of the AANS. 3) To establish standards of quality care for neurosurgical services. 4) To establish policy positions on major issues that affect all members of AANS. 5) To represent the interests of neurological surgeons before federal, state, and local government bodies.
Membership CommitteeCommittee Charges:Utilizing the online application program, the Committee receives, processes, and makes recommendations on all applications for membership in the Association, ascertaining that the applicant meets all requirements of membership in all respects.
The Washington CommitteeCommittee Charges:A jointly sponsored committee of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Quality neurosurgical care is essential to the health and well-being of society. As the voice of neurosurgery before legislative, regulatory and other health care stakeholders, the AANS/CNS Washington Committee exists to advocate for our specialty and patients. The committee has five subcommittees: Joint Coding and Reimbursement Committee, Joint Communications and Public Relations Committee, Joint Drugs and Devices Committee, Joint Guidelines Review Committee, and Joint Neurosurgery Quality Council.
Professional Conduct CommitteeCommittee Charges:Investigate charges of unprofessional conduct brought by members of the association against other members of AANS.
