Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois (RMHCCI) provides programs to support the well-being of children and provides a home away from home for families with children receiving medical care.
This year RMHCCI opened a new 22-bedroom Ronald McDonald House in Peoria, IL, and we anticipate doubling our impact in the central Illinois region with the opening of this program.
RMHCCI currently operates a Ronald McDonald House (RMH) in Springfield which keeps families close together wile their child is receiving medical care. In 2019, close to 300 families were accommodated as overnight guests at the Springfield RMH with an average length of stay of 12 nights. Families are able to stay at the Springfield RMH for as long as needed free of charge. Families stay at the RMH in a private bedroom featuring a private bathroom. Other amenities provided at the Springfield RMH include meals, Wi-Fi, laundry, and more.
RMHCCI provides a Happy Wheels Cart program for families at St. John's Chidren's Hospital and served approximately 350 families through this program in 2019. The Happy Wheels Cart is a cart filled with toys, games and books, that RHMCCI volunteers push through the hospital to distribute items from the cart along with hope and cheer to children who are receiving medical care at local hospitals.
On December 16, 2019, RMHCCI opened a new Ronald McDonald House in a previously unserved community -Peoria, IL. We anticipate serving approximately 700 families this year and more than doubling our impact in the central Illinois region.
