See attached statement . . We serve people who invest themselves in the arts as students, performers, artisans, and appreciators. We hope to develop awareness, understanding, and acceptance of diverse cultures through the exploration of multicultural music, dance, and visual arts. We enable collaboration between artists indifferent disciplines to build community and work to remove barriers that keep people away from art.
Community Center for the Arts (C4A)'s mission is to help make the arts accessible to everyone, and to build community through shared experiences in the arts.
At the core of C4A is our wide variety of INDIVIDUAL LESSONS for children and adults at all levels. Students get plenty of performance opportunities, and we offer free trial lessons or consultations to answer any questions. Instruction is provided for bowed and plucked strings, piano, and accordion in a wide variety of styles, including classical, jazz, pop, folk, and ethnic. In 2018, we added clarinet to our offerings.
Each SUMMER CAMP is taught by a team of professional adult instructors; limited enrollment ensures that all campers receive plenty of attention. In 2018, C4A offered several new camps, including Dungeons and Dragons.
We provide ENSEMBLE opportunities for students at the earliest stages of musical development up through advanced skill levels. Ensembles may be performance-oriented or not. Unlike group classes, more than one part is playing at the same time, and often mixed instruments will be playing together. Well-established ensembles include the Bow-Dacious String Band and the Cretaceous Band. This year, as part of our new African music program, we added the Sikama Choir.
