Organizations Filed Purposes:
Codeucate's purpose is to provide computer science education to elementary and middle school students to prepare them to enter an increasingly technological world. We provide this education through tutoring in schools, in libraries, and through video conferencing. To reach more children, we also partner with local community resources such as schools, libraries, park districts, etc. We match high school computer science students with kids in the community to give an opportunity for high school students to give back to the community and improve their mentoring and computer science skills, while helping younger students gain coding skills. Our programs include one on one tutoring as well as group classes for a variety of coding languages such as Python and Java.
Teaching services. Codeucate focuses on educating elementary and middle school students on the basics of computer science so that they may be better prepared to enter an increasingly technological world. Through Coeducate, students are given the opportunity to learn essential coding languages including, but not limited to, Java, Python, C++, and HTML. In addition to learning about these languages, students are also able to establish general computer science knowledge with our original curriculum that is centered around the foundational principles of computer science. This curriculum will be expanded to include lessons about basic concepts such as how the internet works, and how to use Microsoft programs. This activity is funded by the fees that students pay to enter the program. Since the interns and volunteers are not being paid for their services, Codeucate's fees go to overhead costs such as paying for the website's domain and upkeep, and funding the company's official Zoom subscription. These are included in the activity's cost as they are directly related to how students are able to sign up and participate in Codeucate's programs. Keeping this in mind, costs that go into instruction (ie. activity costs) are planned to comprise 60% of Codeucate's expenses. The remaining 40% will go towards compensation. This activity furthers Codeucate's exempt purposes to be both a charitable and educational organization. With the sole purpose of facilitating the learning process for students trying to learn computer science, Codeucate reinforces the notion that it is an organization created to give back to the community. Codeucate may exercise its right under law to contribute to a non 501(c)(3) organization only on the condition that Codeucate retains control over the use of funds and maintaining records showing that the funds are used for exclusively charitable purposes in accordance to our mission.
