Provide leadership, education, & resources for urgent care practice
Education/Meetings - UCA holds one main continuing medical education conference. A trade show/exhibit hall is also featured at the conference to provide attendees with extended opportunities to learn about new developments as well as tools to help their practice management and clinical practice. A series of continuing education webinars are held and webinars and conference sessions are archived and available for purchase. In 2019, for those interested in becoming accredited, or maintaining their accreditation status, UCA offered an Accreditation Workshop. Based on the success of the workshop, this will continue to be offered; timing of the workshop(s) will be assessed before scheduling.
Membership - UCA has both individual (physician and non-physician) and clinic memberships. Clinic organizational membership is based on the number of locations/centers and ranges from 1 - 2 to more than 100. Individuals working for clinic members receive benefits as beneficiaries of the clinic membership. Other membership categories include student, pre-opening clinic and vendor members.
Certification/Accreditation - UCA administers a certification program to recognize those urgent care centers that meet the scope of services as defined by the Association. An accreditation program was launched in March 2014 to evaluate and recognize centers that meet not only the UCA defined scope of practice, but also nationally standardized criteria associated with quality and safety. Also, ongoing outreach is conducted to educate the industry and third party payers about the value of certification (recognizing scope) and accreditation (recognizing quality).
