Angolan Programs - Every child has the right to education. RISE builds primary schools in rural Angola to educate children, empower communities and contribute to the rebuilding of the country. RISE grants funds to RISE Angola for oversight and administration of the program, and the building of schools. RISE has built 188 schools, giving over 135,000 children access to education annually. As part of our co-funding partnership with Educate A Child and the ExxonMobil Foundation, 10 schools were completed, giving 6,617 children children the chance to go to school. Construction on 7 additional schools was completed, with those to be dedicated at the beginning of the 2020 school year. Another 6 schools were started in late 2019 as part of the partnership. Schools provide jobs and employment for building teams, and teachers and administrators upon completion. RISE also implemented a substantial Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) component, tracking the enrollment, attendance and retention of the individual students in schools built as part of the partnership. RISE continued to develop strategic partnerships with BP Angola, ExxonMobil, and local administrations. US teams traveled to Angola, to visit schools and sites, meet with our teams and document the work. A well was drilled at the school at Piloto.
